I'm baaaaack

#1 Post by bzb »

HAY ERRBUDDY! I missed all my speaker nerd friends!

I've been trolling the forum a bit the last couple days and it seems I've missed quite a few updates! I *never* got to finishing up the T30s, nor the last two OT12s... but I still have all the parts (minus the wood that was donated to another few projects).

I haven't done a large scale gig in over 2 years, but the new groups I'm involved in are wanting me to DJ. One is potentially a really awesome, super nerdy event that I'm crossing my fingers I get awarded.

However, if I do this one, I need to cover around 500 in a ballroom. I'm planning on building two more T39s @ 24" (total of 6) loaded with 3012LF that are in my closet. I'm also planning on building two flat array OT12s loaded with 2512s (total of 4). I probably need to replace a good number of the melded tweeters on my existing ones, as well.

The tops will be powered by Peavey 1600, subs by Crown Xti2000.

Soooo, should I bug Bill for the latest updates, or just go with my 3-4 year old plans?

I'd say yes on the OT12 updates, but stick with the old T39s.

I had to make that same decision a year or so ago. I think the old style Titans look easier to build - and I don't like the look of the giant front cover on the new ones.

But, get the update and do some comparing - that's what I did.

My two cents.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

I've only built the updated Titan plans, but the old design looks like you would need to have a doctorate in gynecology to install or change the driver.

Hey thanks fellas :)

That's friggin hilarious. Yes, it can be a pretty tight when trying to get those bottom screws into the driver

Thanks for the tips. I'm not a fan of the giant door, either... so I'll probably stick with the tried and true. I'll definitely ping Bill for the new OT12.
