A good night...

#1 Post by jswingchun »

This isn't really a review as much as it is a testimonial...

I provided sound for a four band show this past weekend at a local bar using my system. Four OmniTops and four T39s (2 x 20", 2 x 28" wide), three Wedgehorn 8s. I don't do sound for shows very often that don't involve my own band being in one of the slots.

It sounded really friggin' awesome. Really clear, just enough thud from the kick drum. Vocals cut through the mix.

I get compliments on the sound all the time, but this time it was really over the top. I had at least four random bar customers tell me how good it sounded. One of the bartenders who works all the live music shows and who has never really had a lot to say to me went out of his way to tell me how great it sounded. One of the local soundguys who schleps his big rig into this bar for most of the touring band shows walked by and gave me a nod of approval and a fist bump. I had never talked to the guy before. Lot's of the band members came by during the other bands sets and mentioned how great the sound was. Got a shout out from stage by one of the bands.

Maybe everyone was speaking up partly because I wasn't in one of the bands that night, or maybe it was because I was wearing a shirt that told everyone I was with the sound crew, but it was pretty cool.

It's a damned good feeling!

I'm much more jazzed when someone compliments the sound rather than my playing. (feel free to make jokes here about why no one compliments my playing).

Good Job!
As much sweat as these little speakers take, those are the moments that make it all worth it. :)

I'm using a Presonus 16.0.2. I use the built in effects. Delay and reverb on the vocals, a bit of reverb on the snare drum. I use the Behringer DEQ/DCX combination for EQ and crossover. It's a really simple system.

I didn't even notice until now that my original post was my 1000th post on here! That was cool content for a milestone post!

A couple of days ago when I noticed I was close I thought that when I hit 999 I should post the pic of my stack so it would be 1000. Then I spaced it off and this thread became 1000.

So...

Boom!!
