Pair of Jack 15 3015/ASD1001

#1 Post by Middelkevin »

Hello everybody,

First I want to apologize for my English, It isn't the best but I'll try to make it the best I can.

A couple of day's I started to build mij first BFM Design.
I started with the Jack 15, I'm going to use it for small gigs, like background music.
Maybe on smaller party's where I don't prefer much bass.

I thought maybe you all are interrested in following my build.

I first started with the horn, I did that cause I didn't have the plywood plate 12mm, cause the woodshop didn't had it on the time I came there.
They did have the 6mm plywood, I used birch.
So lets see, I started to saw all of the pieces.
I was going to glue everything together with adhesive and then paint the whole horn so I had the space to paint it.

I thought maybe you want to see some pictures?

Here I started to draw all the pieces first and than I started to make sawdust.

Then I primered it.

Later on I painted the horn.

That was the horn, which is now done.
I did also made all the filters:

This is what I have done the last couple days, I post everything here.

Thanks,

Kevin Middel

Hi Kevin,
Welcome to the forum :)

Looking nice and tidy so far!

Are you using bolt on adapters for the compression drivers?
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Good to see another comp driver powered build. It's very wise of you to have started with the comp horn it will make finishing your cab seem a bit quicker. That's my opinion from experience. I must say your work is really tidy.
Built 2 x DR 250
Building 8 DR 250

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I'm using bolt-on adaptors, but I don't have them yet.
I've been busy the last couple of days, I've got my 12mm plywood and I started to build the cabinet.

I measured everything and I started sawing.
I think pictures say more than words:

Now I have to wait for the woofer, I've chosen the Eminence Deltalite 2515.
Does anyone know how big I must make the hole in my woofer spacer with this speaker?
And how big I must make the extension plug?

Thanks!

Very tidy :)

At least in my plans (which are older) it says the sides of the compression driver horn should be made from 1/2" ply. Same for the mount if you are using a bolt on adapter.

I assume you have stayed with the plans in terms of dimensions, so it would be difficult to add another layer of 6mm ply to the sides and keep the dimensions correct, but you could at least add another piece of 6mm ply to the mount for the bolt on adaptor...

I just looked over my plans and it says I must use 1/4".
Maybe that's the difference between the old and the new plans?

Ain't there anyone that knows the size of the plug extension and the diameter of the spacer?

Page 10 of my plans:
"Cut an install a driver spacer per the diagram below. The 14” dimension is nominal for a fifteen inch driver; measure the exact size of the gasket opening on your woofer."

And from page 11:
"The phase plug is backed by plug extensions. These extensions are the same six inch diameter as the plug, with the exception of the last extension, which is five inches diameter. The number of extensions used depends on your driver. With the recommended Eminence drivers the extensions measure 2” total, comprised of four ½” thick discs."

See if you can find something similar in your plans, in case your plans say something slightly different...

The sound quality is just amazing, I was blown away by the quality and the sensetitivity of Jack.
I've had it completed for one week now, and I haven't got it over 10 volt's.

I will upload some video's on my youtube channel and share the links in the youtube topic!

Thanks Bill!
