Jack 12L's and T39's PA set-up

#1 Post by Charles Jenkinson »

My 40th birthday do happened last night. Massive thanks to Chris Allen for bringing his T39's and DEQ/DCX/Crown rack to the party! Seemless integration of bass and tops.

Here's a short video I took before folks turned up.

I wanted to show a music video, so here is the Zac Brown Band - a fund raising concert to rebuild the Georgia theatre, Atlanta.

I've tried to fix that but cannot change the default setting. They must have methods for detecting copyrighted music and restrict viewing based on such. Apologies.

A friend was telling me about the Shazam app today - an app that recognizes music, ...any piece of music, and tells you what it is and the artist/composer. I wonder if youtube are using something like that and if they have a date from when that applied and if they may apply it retrospectively or not. None of it makes sense - it's a better experience on the computer anyway, if people want to watch pirate videos!

I'm very impressed with the sound of the Jack 112. There is definitely something else that the DR's add, unfortunately, I can't put my finger on what it is. Having said that, given how much easier the Jacks are to build, I think an array of Jack 112 is the way to go.

The pure flexibility they offer is just unbeatable.

I don't need the efficiency and max SPL of the DR200's, so having a stack of Jack112 for all various PA duties (Tops, monitors and bass cabs) would be a great solution.

The same applies to the subs. Even the BP102 loaded T39's pack a massive punch, especially in the size of venues to which I am accustomed to. The size and portability of the T30 is highly appealing given that one Lab12/3012LF loaded T30 would do 99% of what I need.

This is a video Chris made. He said to "turn it up".

That's me fannying about on the floor putting the battery in the SPL meter for another video we made on this loudness setting. A DJ mate brought some lights for the main party, so it gave a bit more atmosphere. The oldies weren't keen on the loudness, but it wasn't that loud - the room and adjacent conservatory area where most people were sat didn't feel to have much absorption and that's perhaps why it was hard to talk over the general SPL.

Sounds fantastic!
No surprise there.
And great to see a couple of forum members gettting together as well.

I'm sure the party was a great success. :)
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...
