I want some big cans

For casual music listening from my phone which is my primary music device. I've got a set of Shure se215 IEMs which are nice and I use them when I want their noise isolating properties like yard work and such. But sometimes I just want to chill and listen to tunes in an already quiet room or place and don't need the isolation. Music genre is primarily chillstep/dubstep, electronic music, bluegrass, country folk, old big band/swing, some rock/alternative, and classical. That's a wide spread, I know. Chillstep is probably 75% of my listening.

I like the sound a bit bass heavy but not over kill. Budget is probably 150-200 max.

I bought a pair of Grado SR-80 headphones and i love them, very nice sounding set of cans for a decent price.

A bit low impedance, I had to build a headphone amp for some sources that couldn't handle 30 ohm loads, but that didn't take much more than a BB opamp.

I use these, note they have flat frequency response for recording studios. So they aren't bass boosted. Very comfortable, I like the headband system as it is form fit. http://www.cadaudio.com/MH310.php
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

I was a little disappointed to click this thread and find out the OP wasn't going in for a boob job.

So topic at hand I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT250s that I love.

Those look like a near carbon copy of the AKG K270s. The K270s sound good, as they are for studio monitoring, but they aren't meant for rough duty use. The K240 is similar but with a semi-open earpiece.

Check out the Sennheiser HD280 Pro.

I've been in training classes for work for the past 2 weeks, and they've got a bunch of snacks and candy and whatnot at the back of the room. If I keep eating the candy and donuts like I have been, I'll have all the big cans I can handle! :wall:

have to say that the athm50s take a piss on the hd280s from senny. I've used both for over a year each. its hard to describe, but I guess ear fatigue is probably one of the main reasons I didnt like the HD280s. now the HD25s IIs I love, buying some for my girl once I crawl out of the financial pit.

I've got the Sennheiser HD280's as well. I've used them for ~6-7 years and they're still holding up quite nicely. They're very comfortable (I can wear them for many hours without problems) and isolate noise very well.

However, for casual listening they're a bit too flat (some high end round-off would likely sound better to most people as they're quite flat), and a bit bulky if you're trying to sit in a comfortable position.
