Sourcing parts in the UK DR250 T39 & T60

#1 Post by Uksounds »

So, I've decided to embark on a quest to build 2 T39s followed by some DR250's and T60's

Im wondering if someone has already found good suppliers for parts in the uk?

What is the recommended PU adhesive?

Best suppliers for drivers? ply?

Looking forward to the journey!

Hi everyone, cheers for the reply's much appreciated!

so the DR250 has temporarily devolved into a OT12 due to time constraints, I can order either 5x5 or 4x8 ply in england my question is:

How many sheets to make 2x20" T60s & 2xOT12 ?

Which size is best 5x5 or 8x4? I only have the plans for the DR250 for now so i dont know how much to order...

On the plus side, I have just received 2x LAB 12 and priced all the components, minus the crossovers for the OT's so this must be question 2:

where can I source the crossovers in the UK? I've looked at getting them from speaker parts but the postage is extortionate (for my budget at least:P )

Also, should i still put in an analogue crossover in the T60's if i plan on using an amp with DSP or equivalent? where can I get one?

Thanks again to all of you helpful, loud people!!!

Looking forward to showing people real sound :)

T60s are 60" long so I'd go with the 4x8 sheets as you never know if your sheets are square, you may have to hack an inch or so off to get things straight and your sheets may come slightly scuffed etc. I built an 18" T60 recently and used about 3 sheets of which about half-three quarters of one was wasted due to silly mistakes and wanting a fancier set of bracing in the mouth. OT12s work out at roughly one per sheet of 8x4. So 8 sheets would cover your arse with ease for all cabs and leave room for error (which there'll probably be a few of if this is your first build).

Crossovers aren't available here that I'm aware of however they don't take much to actually assemble, the parts list is in the plans and Audio Components has everything you need and the staff there are great if you make a mistake and need to change the order. http://www.audio-components.co.uk/store ... tegoryID=2

Analogue crossover in the T60? Nope, not if you're using a DBX Driverack or Behringer DCX digital crossover The analogue crossover in the plans (whichever one they appear in) is intended for low power/volume applications. Amps may come with some form of DSP but there's been discussion as to whether the limiters in some of them are actually brick wall limiters which totally protect your LAB12 drivers in the event of someone getting too happy on the volume... I think the vast majority of people on this site use either the DBX Driveracks or the combination of Behringer DEQ/DCX to EQ/limit properly (I have the latter). I recall Bill saying an analogue crossover to use with the subs would be massively expensive to implement and thus pointless.
4xOT12s, 2xT39s@22", TTLS@18", 2xT60@18"
