Hello speakers friends

#1 Post by DJ Veaux »

I am a 16 year old teen who DJs and produces in my spare time. I've taken a recent interest in speakers, and now I have a burning desire to make one of my own from scratch.

If any of you know of a good tutorial or two explaining a speaker and its components at its basic level please forward it to me. I know it differs from speaker to speaker, but there must be some common foundation on which speakers are created.

Also, I will probably produce hundreds of other questions on the topic, so I hope you guys can have a little patience with me :fruit:

Hi and welcome to the forum.

To learn, read everything at this link http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=10
plus at this link http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=18
and also this one http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=14
It's a lot of reading, but eventually it will all start to make sense.

Hi DJ Veaux,
Welcome to the forum :)

Tom has covered the introductory stuff, so read away.

There's as many ways to build a speaker as there is to skin a cat lol...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

If you want a solid understanding of how speakers work and a good basic reference for all things audio I find this site a great place to start:
http://www.bcae1.com/

Jump in wherever or start from the first page. It has a lot of information with a fair amount of explanation and useful diagrams. Spend some time browsing and just absorbing that over a few weeks. Have fun!

Hey what's up? I was your age a year ago. What type of music are you interested in/produce? what type of events do you want to do? weddings? school dances?
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

Welcome to the forum. I was 16 when I joined this forum and after some radically quick learning and TONS of questions, I started building my own speakers. You can view my builds in my signature below.
