Lining material options?

#1 Post by AdamM »

Here's a simple question for you all:

I'm part way through an XF212 and a pair of J110's - to line the cabs, could I use 9oz polyester wadding like this:

http://www.worldofwool.co.uk/products/7 ... 5g_9oz.htm ?

9oz is about 1.25" thick, so that's only slightly thicker than the 1" the Jack plans suggest for this type of material. XF212 plans don't specifically mention polyester wadding as an option...

If the above is no good, can anyone suggest the best place to get more appropriate lining material in the UK? Googling "mattress topper" generally returns lots of hits for memory foam products but from what I read, this is too dense.

Either way, that wadding looks really good value.

Thanks

Adam

Well....just for shits and googles  I went out a-googling....and found nothing for the UK like we have here.

Cheap mattress topper at Wal-mart is 10-20 bucks and you'll have some left over....I don't what your equivalent store is over there, but you've got to some type of convoluted foam available cheap. Go to your biggest Wal-mart type store and tell 'em you want some cheap foam to go on your mattress....it also may be called egg-crate foam because that's what it looks like.

Thanks Bruce - appreciate your efforts. Does that mean you thing that wadding is less good than foam?

In any event, a friend has managed to bag me about 20 sq feet of packing foam, so I'll see how that measures up before splashing the cash!

Thanks I'll bear that one in mind. Nobody will see the pink anyway, so colour's not problem.
