I think my brain is just not working right now, but I am having a very difficult time visualizing the following statement from the Titan 48 plans. Can some of the more experienced builders help clarify the technique described below in the plans.
"Drill a two holes, 1/16 inch diameter or so, through the middle of each panel joint, a couple of inches from either end. On the opposite side of the panel draw lines connecting each pair of holes, showing where to drive fasteners. Clamp the second side to the first. Drill though the pilots, draw connecting lines on the second side as with the first, showing where fasteners will be driven when it’s attached. "
Question Regarding Pilot Holes for Titan 48
Re: Question Regarding Pilot Holes for Titan 48
After you draw out the lines on the side panel, you'll need to drill pilot holes inside of each layout section, about 2" from the ends.
Pretend this is the side panel after you've drawn out the inner layout lines:

The red spots are roughly where you'd drill the pilot holes (a few inches from the ends). Continue drilling the pilot holes for the other layout lines (top, back, bottom, front).

Depending on your ply, a third screw in the middle might help flatten warps.

If one finds that is necessary, then it's only a matter of drawing a straight line in between the screw holes to accurately place the next screw hole/sel_ingeniero wrote:Depending on your ply, a third screw in the middle might help flatten warps.

Such an obvious thing, I didn't feel it necessary to say. But there's bound to be someone that finds it helpful.Harley wrote:If one finds that is necessary, then it's only a matter of drawing a straight line in between the screw holes to accurately place the next screw hole/sel_ingeniero wrote:Depending on your ply, a third screw in the middle might help flatten warps.

Hehe - I know - it's often the obvious that gets missedel_ingeniero wrote:Such an obvious thing, I didn't feel it necessary to say. But there's bound to be someone that finds it helpful.
