Amp needed for t39

#1 Post by Jdhogle »

Hi I have just built a t39 loaded with a lab 12. I am looking into amps now. I'm fairly new to pro audio so I'm wondering what people would recommend. I am using one t39 for now will upgrade to two later so options that can power one or two are welcome. The main things I'm not familiar with are which amps have the proper features, such as limiters, crossovers, etc. I assume I will need an external active crossover. Any and all help is appreciated!

Afaik the only good budget amp that does everything you need is the crown xti.

Plenty of others have dsp but not a complete package.

Otherwise you need a processor to go with a power amp in the 800 to 1000 watts per channel range.
BAT10, Bad Auto Tuba. Reverse folded TAT to fit JBL 1014D, 350W driver, voltage limit unknown.

theres no way you'd need 1000 watts per channel, my Mackie m1400 at 300 wpc 8ohms bridge puts out 1000 watts (90v), plenty for 2 cabs, when you add another cab the power doesnt change because you lower the ohm load. for 2 cabs it is still 50 volts. there is a mackie up on ebay for cheap, it has a ton of features, including a high pass but doesn't have a limiter. I have a rane dc24 layin around that has a limiter, xover compressor, gate if ur interested i'd sell it for 75$, I saw one sell on ebay go for 300.
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.
