Crown System Architect vs. Band Mangager

#1 Post by BrentEvans »

What's the difference? I'm going to be setting up some XTI's in an install later this week, and I'd like to use the best tool.

Band manager is all you need for your application. The "Full version of Sys Arch is a larger download and has built in presets for other devices that are in the crown family and or use HiQ net software as a controller. Example: XTI 4000 with JBL JRX 728 preset. The software usual auto detects hardware upon start.

Warning! be patient on first start of either program it is painfully slow. Once you are in it is pretty straight forward. Also be careful if you use the built in Pink noise generator. It bypasses all internal settings and follows attenuation of the amp.

will band manager update the firmware on the amps so they can have 8 eq points to use instead of 6, like system architect will?

I prefer SA. You should update the firmware first anyway and SA does it for you. I've had problems with band manager detecting devices so I've always just used SA. Are you installing XTI2's or 00's? (Thanks for the CAD info by the way)

The amps are xti1000s, the last of some old new stock.

I am using a Belkin wireless N router, IOGEAR USB Sharing Hub http://www.iogear.com/product/GUIP201/ and an every day USB 4 port hub so that I can work with more then one device. The IOGEAR has its own software that you need to run...but it has been flawless on everything I have thrown at it except USB-RS232 adapters...it just wont designate a com port for some reason.

Well... I burned 500mb of my data plan downloading System Architect. I'm quite impressed, this is not at all what I was expecting. It was actually quite pleasant to use. I'm not accustomed to using Q instead of Bandwidth on EQ, but the editable graphical display makes that a simple switch. Compared to Ashly Protea NE Software and Sabine Navigator, this is by far the easiest to use.

For those of you that have used it, is the interface the same if you're editing something like a DriveRack 260?

have to say I quite like System architect as well. I wish it was a *bit* more user friendly, and allowed the user to have multiple xover/eq/delay/limit windows open, and also have settings to insure they dont pop up over the top of other useful windows. Might check out band manager in the near future.
