Eurekazone EZ-One Power Bench

#1 Post by LiefStevens »

I make most of my living as a musician so the thought of loosing fingers to a sawing accident gives me nightmares. I was all set on getting a Sawstop but then I started researching track saws and the EZ systems caught my eye. I know a number of you use them and I would love to hear more about your experiences using them for speaker building. What system do you have? Did it replace your table saw? Is it fast and accurate? Any customization or templates you have made for speaker building? Any regrets?

I'm thinking about getting the EZ-One or would I be better off with a custom table? Am I insane for going with a track saw over a Sawstop?

I've never used one of the rail systems, but I'd never trade my table saw for it. As many repeatable cuts as there are in these cabinets and the fact that they go together much better if all the panels are exactly the same width - I just can't see having to measure and move the jig for each cut.....and never getting exactly the same width.

But, I would agree that they are probably safer than a traditional tablesaw. However, a SawStop would even that out.

With my DIY EZ table, I set the fence similar to a table saw and get exact repetitive cuts. In fact even more accurate as I'm not juggling big sheets across a ts against the fence...

I have the EZ-One and love it. I have not used it for building cabs yet, but I have used it for other projects. It is very safe and very expandable. The biggest weakness right now in the EZ system is that bevels are not as easy to cut as they are on the other track saws. EZ is supposed to be coming out with a solution to that issue this year. In the meantime, I have found an acceptable workaround. I have posted that workaround on the forum there.

If you have any more questions about the EZ system you can ask here or PM me. I am in no way affiliated with EZ, just a happy user.

If you had used one, you might be ready to trade your table saw for it.

A stand alone track is not repeatable, but The EZ-One is just as repeatable as a table saw, maybe more so.

I have a festool ts55 with the parallel guide and extension accessories. It does not replace table saw completely. Although I get by with it. A table saw is much faster. If I had enough space I would prefer a table saw.

I think I'm going to give it a shot. They have a 30 day money back guarantee so if doesn't work for me I can send it back.

I also have a table saw and a panel saw. I was going to upgrade my table saw to a Sawstop but I'm thinking I'll keep my table saw for occasions where I need it and use the EZ-One for everything else.

The Festool seems like a great tool but the EZ-One is more than a track saw. It has a table with a fence and stops for repeat cuts and and bridge system. From what I understand it is a little slower to setup some cuts but much faster at other cuts. Angled cut are really easy and don't need a jig like a table saw does. The EZ's big short coming seems to be beveled cuts but they are working on it.

Eurekazone is a unique company with a very eccentric owner. He kinda reminds me of my step father lol. It seems like a DIY kind of company and the user base seems to have a lot of influence over the design. The tool it's self seems well thought out but their promo and documentation needs a lot of work. It took me several days of research to figure out how their different tools work. It surprises me that one of the big tool companies hasn't bought them out.

Eccentric as in 'unprofessional'. I suspect the reason nobody has bought him out is that there isn't much of a company there.

I bought and paid for my EZ One bench including shipping to China last August. Still not even been shipped. Getting an email out of Dino is like getting blood out of a stone. I had to fulminate like a rude person to get a reply after both myself and my import agent had approached him about shipping on 8 occasions between us. No updates. No apologies. Customer service is non-existent.

Effectively loaned him money for half a year.

Great product. Shit company. Caveat emptor.

I bet my dadoes are a lot better than yours... :D

I imagine making tenons would be tough with that circular saw too. :D

And I bet your wife can't store a bunch of crap on top of one of those rails when you aren't using it...... :chainsaw:

That's where the ssrk kit with a router is the cat's ass. I much prefer doing dadoes with a router.

I also prefer doing dadoes with a router and seems like the ssrk would make it really easy. I can think of a lot of uses for speaker building as well.

EROK I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. Did you get your money back? Have you tried posting on his forum? He has moved his operation 2 hours away from me so I can always go bang on his door if he doesn't ship it.

I emailed him yesterday and he replied right away.

It's not your fault OP. No need to apologize. Thanks though.

Initially Dino was very attentive. Until he got my cash. :cussing:

I'm sure many people have had great experiences. Unfortunately I have not.

Not got money back. I want the product I paid for and level of service I expect from American suppliers and mfrs. If he'd been some shonky outfit over here, I'd "be flexible" as the saying goes in China, but this guy is in NJ.

I have bought the SSRK plus a router and a circ saw with the bench in mind. Its level of safety and its measuring and stops system looks fantastic.

Send Pauly Gaultieri round there to pay him a visit!

I will join his forum and start making a noise...

I think that's a good idea. He seems to respond pretty fast when people start complaining on his forum.

He has just moved to South Carolina.

Well, I guess the relocation will have caused relatively recent delays and radio silence. So, I won't get too hot under the collar!

Before that is ancient history. Not sure I remember that far back anymore!

The good thing is with a maverick owner-inventor like Dino, he's in a position to personally make it up to me.

Thanks for the info. It explains a lot.

Is it on the website that they're moving? Maybe I missed something.
