BC Cabinet Grade plywood @ Home Depot

#1 Post by BoostFab »

Look at what I ran into at Home Depot. They didn't have this before.

BC Plywood cabinet grade with 5 even plys like Auraco. The price is really good.

I'm going to get a sheet for a SLA Pro

Very cool...looks like my nearest HD may also have some plywood of interest. What's the BC stand for?

Let us know how it goes. The HD is closer than the Lowe's where I live, so it would be good to save on some gas.

Good question. British Columbia?? Wood type?

And how about S/B? I looked at plywood grades [B/B, B/BB, etc] on Wikipedia but no S/B so maybe that's the wood type? :?:

No mention of Baltic/Russian/Finnish. Dunno how significant that is, though. :noob:

Can you tell I have no idea what I'm talking about?! More questions than answers from me! :wall:

BB/BC.. etc, I believe are referring to the outer plies on each side.

B: flawless or minimal knot that was filled and sanded smooth
C: has some knot and not sanded smooth like the other side "B"

Was the pile a warped mess like the Arauco i've been finding recently?

I pulled out a couple of sheets to inspect, it has some warp, but nothing major, a brace will straighten it out easily. The HD near my house has a lot to pick and choose, I'm not complaining for that price.

One sheet should be enough for two SLA_Pro, but I only bought four alphas for now, to do some testing. I will add another one later.

Ah, I see. Thanks!

Let us know how testing goes, please!

Way off in the mists of time I'd like to build a pair of SLA pros for bars/small clubs.

Warped plywood is no big deal. Clamp or screw it to your cutting table (the one in the Panel Jig plans) to hold it flat for cutting. When you assemble the cab using the methods in the plans any warp is removed.
Warp is mainly the result of both sides of the plywood not being exposed to the air. Never store it with one side down; store it as close as possible to standing upright, both sides exposed to the air.

Problem is it has normally been stored incorrectly in the store or in transit beforehand.

I have pulled Arauco ( and other ) sheets from a compressed pile and as soon as I get them out, they're warped.

Don't you have a problem with it starting to bow in the middle when stored standing upright?
