tweeter painting

#1 Post by wormtownbass »

It looks like whoever built the DR250 that Bill has up on the site has painted tweeters. It's a nice touch and I think I would like to do the same. Is this a bad idea? Any masking needed as to not damage the tweeters?

thanks!

I usually just remove the elements to paint the tweeter housings.
Others have suggested using the little round "garage sale" type pricing stickers to mask the element.

Just remove the element and you should have no problems.

Those are my DR's with the melded array painted in deep purple. I removed all the elements and gave it 3 coats of model spray paint. This was about a year ago, since then, the elements are no longer removable making it harder to paint without hurting the piezo element. You can try stuffing a small piece of backing foam in the opening before spraying....Any color other than black will be noticeable around the center.
