Battle of Jack 15 bass cabs

I spent some time today comparing my two different flavors of Jack 15. One is Baltic Birch, 3015 loaded. The other is Auraco, Delta Pro 15 loaded. Neither have a HF section, both have the low pass filter per the plans. Both are sprayed Duratex, pet screen on the baffle only.

The BB/3015 cab weighed in at 53 lbs. The Auraco/DP cab was a portly 61 lbs.

My unscientific testing consisted of "entertaining" my neighbors to about 3 hours of continuous bass solos at war volume from my back yard. I was playing my p-bass with flats through a Traynor YBM-1A, (90 watts, all tube)periodically switching the cabs and also playing through both simultaneously.

I was actually a little surprised by the audible difference between the two cabs. The 3015 was much deeper voiced and really gave a sense of "authority" to everything I played. The Delta Pro seemed to be a little more focused and detailed with just a hint of break up when pushed. They are close enough in tone however that I couldn't pick out one cab from the other when they are stacked.

My listening test confirmed that for me 3015 is the right choice for a single stand-alone bass cab. I'm pretty content with the Delta Pro in the second cab to use when I need a second cab, especialy since I'm using a relatively low power head.
