Are you planning to run just one DR250? It might just be even with a pair of T24s. Actually, you might want to construct a pair or two of the T39. What type of music do you typically play for 90% of your gigs. How loud do you want it? How much pack space do you have?
Have you read this sticky yet? http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewt ... ?f=1&t=398
Don't be scared of the melded arrays. They are sweet even as far back as 80 feet. And that is just twelve of them piezos.

No. Four of them, yes. You're either under sizing your subs or over sizing your tops.ERiX wrote: Even with the dual driver T24s, you don't think it will hang?

Re: Hello from Colorado!
For weddings I'd do a pair of 2xT24 and a pair of SLA Pro or DR200 or OTop 12. DR250 is way overkill.

It's not that you can't use DR250 for wedding gigs, but you're lugging a lot larger cab than you need to, and that's seldom looked on favorably by The Wedding Planner.ERiX wrote:Swell. So I'm definitely doing it wrong.

Did you get your CD of plans yet? It will be cheaper in the long run....there's an AT looming in the future, and......

Re: Hello from Colorado!
The dual driver version of the O12 is a big, big cab. Even the single driver O12 is good sized. I personally think the SLA Pro has a lower profile.
If you like to bass to impress, maybe dually S2010 T24s are something to look into.

Big difference between O12 and OT12. Your plan to use OT12 will work just fine. No need to UGH!

Over thinking a proven product serves no useful purpose.

If you have the chops, these are fun to build. So much so that you'll order the CD and build even more. They all sound great and even if a top is out of balance with a sub, just turn one of 'em down until you get the right balance.ERiX wrote: I have mad woodworking chops,

Both channels of an Xti2000 or 1 channel of an Xti4000. Built in DSP for high pass filter, crossover, limiting and EQ. Enough juice to get them about as loud as they'll go. Can't go wrong.

DR 200 vs. DR 250:
DR200 pros: smaller, lighter, easier to stack.
DR250 pros: louder, more low end extension.
You make the call. IMHO, if you've got the pack space for the DR250s, stick with those.
Tuba24:
Honestly, if you're interested in this as more than a hobbyist, I'd stay away from the T24. Even just stepping up to the T39 is a significant increase in output. There are some folks out there who run T24s or AutoTubas in large herds, but if you're looking for scalable, I'd stick to the T39/T48 or T30/T60 options.

If you're woodworking chops are that good you'll find the otop single driver 12s a piece of cake. I'm on with a pair at the mo and am bondo-ing and generally enjoying messing with various sanders.
Re: Hello from Colorado!
There is the key. It's a sliding scale from small to large.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:You're either under sizing your subs or over sizing your tops. For weddings I'd do a pair of 2xT24 and a pair of SLA Pro or DR200 or OTop 12. DR250 is way overkill.

1st Option:If you want to do dual T24s, go with a smaller top. SLA Pro= good- great sound but not as scaleable if you get into bigger gigs. OT12= better- small, easy to build, good sound. DR200= best- small, best sound in a small package.
2nd Option (for fewer cabs initially and as the gigs get bigger still fewer cabs than the T24): T39 and your choice of the aforementioned tops.
Either way will work. Since you say you want bass to impress and you have a pickup truck I'd say go with T39s and DR200s (OT12s if you hate woodworking). Classic combination that works great. Most output with fewest cabs. Scalable. Not too big at all to lug around and set up. Small gigs just bring one T39 and a pair of tops for coverage. Bigger gigs bring both T39s. Even bigger gigs (into the hundreds) build two more T39s and DR200s (or OT12s).
ANY of these ways will work impressively. It's just that with the T24 you'll have to bring more cabs sooner.
Don't get confused deciding between the DR200 and DR250. The DR250 is a great cab but it's a little much for small gigs if you're concerned about the look of your rig being too big for the wedding planner. And, it's just too much if you insist on T24s.
