When do you use delay?
When do you use delay?
When do you use delay and is it on the Tops or Subs?

Re: When do you use delay?
On the tops, to time align them with the backline instrument amps and drums.
Re: When do you use delay?
I've got a local job where I corner load the Tubas and they are about eight feet behind the tops, so last time I was there I believe the DCX 2496 was delaying the tops about 8 ms...you can set it to adjust by distance and I believe that's what I did.
I have another question related to this...should the horn length be part of the distance consideration?
Thanks!
Donny

Re: When do you use delay?
Yes. But delay below 100hz is very difficult, if not impossible, to hear, so don't delay the tops any more than aligning with the backline requires.doncolga wrote: I have another question related to this...should the horn length be part of the distance consideration?

Re: When do you use delay?
Do you mean that its of no reason to delay the tops to the subs when for example dj'ing and xover freq is around 100 hz? I guess it matters of roomsize and speaker placement?Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:Yes. Re: When do you use delay?
It depends how far in back of the mains the subs are placed. Less than 10 feet you may not hear any difference. You will with direct radiator subs. because they have so much harmonic content above the pass band.osse wrote:
