Jack 110 DL2510 and 6 flat array review

#1 Post by netwerks »

I built a pair of J110 with flat tweet array about 9 mos ago ago for my wife to use for Zumba demos.

Today was the first time I was actually there to hear them firsthand standalone without subs.

I set them up @ 40' apart on a stage @ 3' off the ground with the cabs placed @ 6" out from the back wall.

Room was 50x100, (5000 sq ft) and walls were "treated" with 10' ceilings.

I ran the jacks with @ 2v avg and 5v peak power (for those of you who don't know that's roughly 1/2 watt average and @ 3watts peak) and stood in the back of the room @ 110' and i couldn't believe with @ 75 bodies between myself and the speakers that they were absolutely crystal clear and even had a little bit of bottom end that far back.

I had them powered by a spare XTI4000 but hell I thought to myself I may as well buy a $30 chip amp @ parts express and use the xti elsewhere and have her save the carry weight not to mention no need for speaker stands or a line mixer.

I will up the voltmeter reading video later.

I'm still in amazement, borderline disbelief. :)

I always thought about installing an internal chip amp and just all four of them off that, but seeing as how they need at LEAST a 9-band eq, I'm still forced to use my powered mixer :(

However, the extra 400 watts does help :D

That all depends on how picky you are!

We're talking about an audience of 75 middle age women for an hour here. :)

LOL, even if playing music for 5 people, I wouldn't use them without an eq

Jacks are nice speakers, but being flat ins't one of their strong points.
