Clearly mark your panels!

Started cutting for the T24 around 7PM. Ripped through an entire sheet of Arauco, marking the panel numbers as I went. After finishing the drawings, I went to work on the baffle, thinking this was going quite quickly.

I just got to panel 7. I couldn't find it. Looked around everywhere thinking I moved it when I was routing the baffle. Nope, I used it already. I marked it with a 7 and a line underneath it. Looked like a 1.



Luckily I have another sheet of Arauco for the second T24, but I'm done for the night

Oh well. Now you don't have to cut another number one panel.

It's the ones I accidentally use to make something like a cawl, where I have bevelled each side for a run of four cabs that really piss me off!

I had a stack of ply, small pieces, cut to the correct width for a second T18. Most of the panels are the same width, except for the two sides (left and right). Did not have time, so it just sat there for a while. Then came the request from the kids to build homes for their bears and other furry little animals. Yeah, got some ply waiting, mostly cut to size for T18's but there were some leftovers as well. Yeah, these two are different width, lets use those Should have marked those pieces.

The homes turned out fine. The second T18 isn't built yet

This is one of the reason why I first build it with screws (and only screws) and if i'm happy with the results, then everything gets PL'ed. But most of the time I do a coil with screws, then pl, and then move on.

But this happened with my first two jacks where instead of ending up with four rectangles for the top/bottom, I ended up with four squares

netwerks - exactly what I did this afternoon when I sliced up the second sheet.

I think it's because BB and Arauco are so cheap and the cabs are so rapidly built that I don't take the time I should. When dealing with far more expensive species, I measure 8 times, then cut once a little long, then again to exact.

For me it's not about the cost of wood, its the 40 mi round trip to Menards for a new sheet. Then another 30 min digging down to the bottom of the stack for a "flat" piece with very little void.

What a pain.

Oh, have I been there! Now I take my time and mark each panel. Mark the inside area and even indicate to myself where the angle goes and to what degree as well as mark on which side of the cut line is the waste so I don't accidentally cut a panel a sawblade width short.

Yeah, I guess it's that, too. I've got two Lowes within 7 miles and three lumberyards that carry BB within 10. I'm spoiled, so I think I'm contractually obligated to be careless with my lumber.

I was cutting all the peices for a production run of 4 W10's recently. I would cut four of the same piece, set them aside to the right grab from the left, cut four pieces set them to the right.

It was getting late and as I cut four squares from these "left over" rectangles on the last one I realized they were panels I had already made Of course they had double bevels and all that.

The worst part was that as I was cutting the last one, I realized what I was doing and looked over where I had grabbed the pieces from. Took my eyes off the table saw the piece bound in the saw and shot me 3 inches above my twig and giggle berries hard enough to hit me fly five feet and knock over some other wood. This is how I looked for a few minutes

Never, never stop paying attention to your tool! (and don't work until after 12am if you can help it)

Doin' just fine now. I had a pretty good bruise for about a week. I am about 6'2" and I was just thanking the powers that be that I was not made 3" taller

I do carpentry and landscaping for a living and so far I still have all my fingers and aside from twice in my career of the table saw getting ahold of something, I haven't had any injuries. Both of those just left bruises. I sure am glad we didn't get that 3hp motor that had been talked about though...
