THT brace didnt set properly, help

#1 Post by bean438 »

I glued 3 braces for my tht, the panel 3, 5 braces. The middle one that spans the driver is loose. The non relief cut end has no PL or very little holding it. The relief cut out side also is loose on one side.

Very disappointing. These braces are hard to place with out smearing the PL out of the way.

So I need a solution. Can i just caulk along with PL, or does there need to be lots of it between the edges?

I know these things dont have to be air tight, but they should be somewhat secure to prevent rattles.

I could try to take it out and reglue, but I dont want to screw up what I have done.

Any ideas?

Update:

Brace did not set at all. When I took out the holding screw it is completely loose.

And because the brace above and below set properly, I cant take the loose brace out. The PL that smeared from the lose brace during instal is preventing me from removing it.

Wiggle it to the side and smear glue on area it will slide back onto. Get as much done as you can like that, then caulking it with glue above and below and itshoild be fine. I had to fix one of my t48 after a brace came loose at one end by reaching the glue gun into the mouth and bending the brace a bit and then letting it spring back onto the glue.
-1 for thought terminating cliches.

I managed to get the brace out and redo the PL. Seems to have worked.

I guess I'll find out once the THT goes to work!
