I'm working on a t39 and was curious what is the best way to cut out the small tapered braces. I have a 10" table saw and of coarse a hand circular saw.
I have an adjustable taper jig I bought. but have never used one before. and I don't feel comfortable getting my fingers near the blade on the small braces.
I already cut them to the wide dimension and just need to put the taper on one side.
Any Ideals?

Yep, sled is the only way to go.
Taper jig is good for table legs or such. Not so much for the braces.

Re: best way to cut tapered braces
I used a pull out/extendable mitre saw/chop saw. Very easy to work with.
Re: best way to cut tapered braces
I'm in a time crunch so I just ripped a piece of 3/4 about 10' wide. cut out the braces to the wider end dimension. I Stacked the braces with double sided tape inbetween and drilled 2 pilot holes, Screwed them to the plywood and ran through the saw. Might not be the best method, but it was quick and accurate.

+1 Exactly how I do it too. Quick, easy, and no time-consuming alignment. Especially for the longer ones.....mobetter wrote:I'm in a time crunch so I just ripped a piece of 3/4 about 10' wide. cut out the braces to the wider end dimension. While you're at it, do your cutouts while the pieces remain screwed together.
