Lowes- 10" 13-Amp Table Saw $59
Re: Lowes- 10" 13-Amp Table Saw $59
WOW! that's actually the table saw I have. I got it on sale when it was IIRC 109. It's a piece of crap, but it does get the job done. Don't forget a nice disk for it too if you do get it. I got the dewalt finishing disk and after all of my projects, it's still going strong. Oh, it also comes in VERY handy when doing peizos. So even if you just use it to do 1" strips and piezos, it's a steal at that price.BoostFab wrote:Lowes is having this table saw for blackfriday; i may have to make a trip out to lowes for this baby.

Great price.I'd look up on some how to's for a better fence as mine likes to move around when cutting larger sheets of ply. That plus adding some additional wood benching to allow for larger pieces to be cut with ease is essential too. The table tops only tend to be 25 x 25 inches or so which can be tricky. Looks half way decent for the price though.

+1. Most lower priced saws cannot upgrade to a better fence, and that's very limiting. My saw is a $100 Delta with a 24x24 top. I added a $200 fence and home made wings that expanded the top to 48" with 36" capacity to one side of the blade.mems wrote:I'd look up on some how to's for a better fence

I planned on doing a diy table surface expansion to load larger piece of plywood. I wish they make this sale sooner, I'm dreading blackfriday--all the crazy shopaholics are out in the wild....

Those little "bucket saws" are generally more trouble than they are worth. A good circular saw will be as powerful, safer to use, and more useful.
However, it is possible to upgrade those saws into something useful. They will need to be built into something larger to provide stability, and a larger table surface. Something like this will do the trick.

my dad have one of these Skil 10" table saw, and he made his own table expander like the picture in the link, and he had built the whole kitchen and what not with this setup. I think the factory table isn't great for anything large, but once you expand it, it will be a treat---you can practically build anything.SoundInMotionDJ wrote:Those little "bucket saws" are generally more trouble than they are worth. What I did I just built a wide sawhorse kind of thing which is about the same height of the table saw and just move it around to where I need it; very useful. However, I would not spend much (if at all) on upgrading anything for it. You'd be better off buying a good table saw with a decent guide or simply buying a handheld saw with the rails as building speakers gets tricky with a table saw if the max you can do is 12"
the little miter thing doesn't really help by having a guide of about 10" long...however, for the throat reflectors and other little stuff, it does ok.
I think the best thing would be to build the DIY table saw jig and work from there. Mine was ok but it finally broke down; now I only use half of it.

I don't see myself buying any upgrade for it, other than blades. I'm all about diy: I'll be making my own sawhorse table expander like the picture in the link. I my experience, I wouldn't underestimate these small table saws after seeing my dad build the whole kitchen worth of cabinets.SeisTres wrote:What I did I just built a wide sawhorse kind of thing which is about the same height of the table saw and just move it around to where I need it; very useful.
