BFMs at a Barn Dance in Texas
For those of you outside Texas, I thought you might like to see how things are done out in the country. We played a barn dance for a gun club out in the boonies. The venue is a barn built in 1867. The club holds regular shooting matches with and against other clubs.
Tried putting a single T39 in the corner behind the drummer facing the corner, but the walls were rattling louder than we were playing. Tried leaving it in that position but facing out - feedback from the kick mic. Moved it up by the mains with it's back against the wall. Worked ok from there and the bass player loved it - it was right behind him. The OTops were smooth and sounded really good. Lots of good comments about the sound and they've already booked us for next year.
This is about as rustic as it gets....
We set up in the corner. View from the band....pretty neat old barn. This little soldier died wth her boots on....

So, a yankee comes to town bragging about how big his place was saying, "It takes me three days to drive all the way around it."
Without missing a beat, the old Texas rancher says, "yep, I had a truck like that once."

You ought to hear 'em, they sound great! Helped with the heat as it was a little chilly.

That's the only problem with my LED parcans. This time of year I could do with a bit of warmth coming from the lights! Still get people holding their hands up to them and rubbin their hands together.

Hah, had the same thing last week. People putting their hands up to my uplights and saying: wait, these aren't hot?Dave Non-Zero wrote:That's the only problem with my LED parcans. I remember reading something about that being an unintended effect of energy saving lights - that in colder climates they'll now how to spend that saved energy on heating.
Cool old barn. Wonder if the BF cabs will last as long?

Bag the greens, replace them with red or pink. Green lamps are OK if it's Halloween and you're going for the Herman Munster look, but otherwise, not so much.Bruce Weldy wrote:These things....Zack Brock wrote:What are those things sitting on top of the Otop 12's?

And what exactly is wrong with my Herman Munster look? As long as you wear a hat, nobody notices...Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:Bag the greens, replace them with red or pink. Considered red....didn't want it too dark....but considering I have a face made for radio....maybe you are right.

Well, all of you on here do. Me, back in '97. 52 minutes, a little past rare, then went and had an ice cream after. I only weighed 230 pounds then.Drey Chennells wrote:Well sir I do know someone who ate the 72oz steak and got it for free, and that damn nearly makes me a full on Texan.
