Rounding out both sides of driver hole?

Helpful hints on how to build 'em, and where to get the stuff you need.

Rounding out both sides of driver hole?

#1 Post by bean438 »

Up until now I have been rounding out both sides of the baffle driver cut outs. It cleans up nice and make it look like I actually have a clue what I am doing. :noob:

But it got me thinking if this is a good practice or not in terms of a proper gasket seal for the driver to baffle.

I know you can round over the front for a rear mount, and the back side for a surface mount.

Is it OK to round over both sides, regardless of fron or rear mount?

I wouldn't.

Cut the hole a tad smaller if you want to round the front. I wouldn't round the back.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Rounding both leaves not enough wood for the driver mounting screws to grab.

The bad news is I have to recut and re drill all my baffles then. :cussing:

The good news is that I get to play more with my new Festool plunge saw and guide rail! :hyper:
