The BASH 300 has a better SNR.
Good food, good people, good times.

What about THD....looks better on the Dayton? At that low level, does it matter?

'A' weighted S/N is useless below 100Hz, so it's a meaningless spec on a subwoofer amp. So is THD, as the harmonics lie for the most part above the subwoofer passband. For the same price I'd do the BASH, just for the lower electric bill.

Two things I noticed about the BASH300 amp's specs:

* They tell you it's 300w into 4 ohms, but don't tell you how many watts into 8 ohms.

* They don't tell you the slope of the LP filter. The Dayton SA240-B has a 4th order LP (24db / octave), but many plate amps only have a 2nd order LP (12db / octave), so you can't just assume that the BASH has a 4th order LP.

Probably as few users run 8 ohm HT subs. All amps follow pretty much the same rule of thumb, a 0.7 change with doubling the load impedance. Figure it to be 210 watts.

That good of a deal, and now I'm wondering how much more output I could get with that 300w Bash compared to the 115w fostec amps at the NHT buyout for 50 bucks on a TT...

With what driver? Most are displacement limited to 100-150w anyway. You'll get headroom, but not more output.

Ah, well I suppose that kind of answers my question. I suppose if dual loading the Bash would be a better choice for max SPL, but otherwise the Fostec seems pretty adequate for the standard 8'' MCM since at 4 ohms the fostec puts out 115 so that puts it about the right range.

Now that I'm looking for it, I can't seem to find the Fc of the TT. I know the AT is something like 4 ohms added to whatever the speaker is, and the T24 is 2 ohms, but what does the TT add for resistance of the horn mass? If the horn loading adds 4 ohms like the AT then the fostec might be a little underpowered actually...
