Do I Need My BBE?

Hey,
I'm considering getting the Behringer DEQ2496 along with the Ultradrive. Would I still have any use for my BBE? I figured I could maybe sell it along with my Samson crossover.
Thanks!
Donny

I would vote No, you don't need it. IMHO, of course.
In my testing, a BBE processor is a combination exciter (artificial harmonics/distortion added to sound) and simple smiley-face EQ (sucked mids) adjustable by the Low Contour and Process (highs) knobs. After extensive testing of the settings and turning it on and off, I obtained better results without it. The sound was always fatiguing to me with it on. With the additional revealing detail of piezos in my PA, it was obvious that it was no longer needed to artificially add 'clarity' to my sound.

+1. BBE can make poor speakers sound better, but it will only make good speakers worse.

Well I bit the bullet today and bought a ULTRADRIVE PRO DCX2496...so it will probably be here by Thursday. I'll probably do my best to get ready to gig with it...at least set the limiter for the sub...sure hope I like it.
