A few weeks ago I completed a significant upgrade to my TAT car (van) system. I don't remember where I got the link from (maybe here on BFM's forum...)
but I checked this site: http://www.minidsp.com/ and thought their MiniDSP card was just what I needed.
I went ahead and bought the MiniDSP card. Have a look at my initial review of the installation over at MiniDSP's forum here:
http://www.minidsp.com/support/forum/7- ... idsp-a-tat
Since that review I have fine-tuned the system a little more. Basically I zeroed all the settings on the head unit feeding the amp and all adjustments were made within the MiniDSP alone.
Some of them are: Steep HPF for the TAT was set at 30Hz. Xover point is at 90Hz. The only EQ needed for the TAT was some cut at around 60Hz.
The top(mid-high) channels got a 1.3m delay (to compensate for the TAT horn length) and also some EQing.
Setting the MiniDSP through the Laptop is a real breeze and I am very happy with how the whole system integrated together.
Still, every now and then I feel like there is a need for another 'touch' but this upgrade has definitely pushed the performance of the system to a new level,
with the TAT being the heart of it.
