Amp opinions

#1 Post by Trauma11 »

I am building 4 tuba30s, 3012lf loaded, and 4 dr250s.

The plan right now is to run the tubas on a crown xls 2500 and the dr's on a crown xti 2000.

From what I've been told and researched this should be good but does anyone have any other suggestions? Maybe cheaper, but I don't want to sacrifice quality.

Thanks
Brett

why the xls2500 on sub duty? They can only run 1 filter per channel... which means you dont have the necessary hipass.
Built:
2x Tuba 30s delta12lf loaded (gone)
4x Otop12 d2512 loaded
8x t48s (18, 18, 24, 24, 30, 30) 3015lf loaded
2x AT (1 mcm, 1 gto 804)
2x SLA Pro (dayton pa6, 6 goldwood piezo loaded)
1x bastard XF208

2x OT212 (delta pro 450a loaded, eminence psd)

Flip that. Run the subs on the xTI. You need the lowpass/highpass. The XlS doesn't have it.

Or, take money you save from buying XLS instead of XTI and buy a Driverack - it'll do all the crossovers plus EQ, feedback control, limiting, and more. There are options out there. Decide just what gear you will be using at the front of the signal chain before choosing amps.

Depending on your situation, you might be fine with a graphic EQ, and the high end amps that include limitiing and crossover. Or, you might be best off with a processor like the Driverack and cheaper amps that have the power, but not the processing. Also, if you already have EQ and a crossover, that changes things too.

The best advice for you can come after you let eveyone know what you already have and how you intend to use it.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210
