How to EQ your system without RTA - only by ear

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

How to EQ your system without RTA - only by ear

#1 Post by lazyman »

I have used this method, and seems to work ok.

I downloaded Bink test CD.

Then i played different frequencies thru system and adjusted eq until all frequencies sound similarly loud.

After that, even some junk piezos sound good.

I hope it is understandable, english is not my language.

So I download bink test cd?
Then set all my EQ to similar loudness, using spl meter? C weighted?

Or just by ear?

I think using SPL meter will get you to flat response, which is not the point.

Be aware of the inaccuracies ( at the frequency extremes ) with the different weighting - including C.

( FYI: Most do not care for the sound of a system set "flat" )
