Behringer.. Yes or No?

the behringer equipment i have owned has been pretty solid with the exception of the BCD2000

I was interested in the XENYX X1222USB....
should i go with this mixer or just save a little more money and get a mackie or A&H?

my behringer equipment have do it fine too (some excemptions ) this is is a small mixer if you treat it well it will serve you well

-1. I had a Xenyx have channels go bad sitting in the box for a few months. I know of at least two others that fried in various ways within a year or two, in installs.

Behringer is pretty good at amps and processing equipment, but pretty lousy at mixers, in my experience.

In the same price range as the 1222FX you can get the Yamaha MG124, still 6 mic pres, but 4 of them have built-in compressors. You don't get the onboard FX (which are pretty hokey) and the 7 band EQ that the 1222FX has, but you should be running external EQ anyway. IMHO the comps are far more valuable. If you really want the FX, for a little more you can step up to the MG124CX, which has the FX unit built in (and they're better sounding). And btw, the MG124CX is only $20ish more at NSL or Full Compass than the 1222FX is at MAP (Musicians Friend, B&H, Parts Express, your local music store, etc).

Negative on Behringer mixers. Three strikes, will never be in the Shively household again. I'm sticking with Yamaha, Allen & Heath, and Vestax.

(Although, I do have an American Audio QD5, but it's specifically for scratch mixing

Yep, I have alot of behringer stuff, but their mixers are something I stay away from. I've had a two channel one and while decent, the inputs and the noise were not very good. Then, in the band, we had a powered mixer and like 6 months sliders started malfunctioning. Also, i've worked with their "studio" mixer and preamps and effects were a joke. Samething with my current powered mixer. Strangely though, the "power amp" section of the mixers take abuse just fine.

I've used a mackie and peavey and they were ok, but I'll take yamaha over anything. I do not have a negative thing to say, but only praise for their mixers. They give what you need and nothing you don't and they simply work like one expects a mixer to work. Also I believe they have a model with an usb port, but it's kind of price. However, if you just need a recordign interface, check out the mackie onyx.

I had the same problem with my Mackie CFX12. I have two Behringer mixers, one has been gigging for 7 years, never had a problem with it. Even after having a pint of beer spilt on it, it still worked. My Yamaha's both worked fine and my A&H has been solid but it did blow it PSU after 13 months, they repaired it without complaint but it was inconvenient.

The mic gain on the Behringers is truly crap though, absolutely awful. For that reason alone, I wouldn't buy one.

I haven't got the most discerning ear in the world when it comes to noisy preamps and such (because I haven't spent any time really trying to develop it), but from a pure "will it break as soon as I get it" standpoint, I've had four Behringer mixers over the last several years (three new and one used), and they never failed me once. Only reason I had that many is because I kept upgrading.

Having said all that, I no longer have a Behringer mixer because I had the opportunity to snag a Yamaha O1V...

Ok, after taking everyones comments into consideration, i have decided to go with the MG124CX...
Northern Sound has it for 250 shipped, im sure guitarcenter will price match and i will be able to use my $20 gift card which will leave me a little extra money towards a interface for recording

Northern sound is not usually a viable option for price matching at other stores. The discount northern sound and light price is something you only get to see by agreeing NOT to share that price with anyone else.

I'm an NSL customer. Their pricing is well worth the $1 for the membership.
Please do not post their pricing in public places. This violates MAP and we will lose out on a discount source.
They no longer carry QSC (a real pity), probably due to MAP issues.

My DCX unit drop shipped by NSL directly from Behringer, so I didn't get stale stock.
The process took longer than an in-stock item, but the steep discount was worth it.
I was in no hurry.

I've owned three Behringer mixers, from a 2 channel unit, to a 12 channel unit to a 32 channel unit. No issues with any of them.

What are you hoping to use the USB for?

Dito on the behringer mixers I've got a 32 channel mixer and I'd say 8 or 9 of the channels are shot.

This has been my experience as well, but looking around the net, it does seem like we are in the minority as most people complain of Behringer mixer dead channels or dead mixers altogether. Seems like the mixers might be more of their 'hit or miss' products.
