Another Jack´s from Argentina
Hi all!
I´ve finished these Jacks about 2 months ago while I was in Argentina. Then I had to leave. I´m in Spain now, but I will go back to Argentina next week, where I will settle down for a while.
I had one only oportunity to test the cabs in a real situation (rehersal in a good sounding room). That s why I prefer to wait berfore writing a full review. My first impressions are that the cabs work really good for bass guitar. I would say that they compare to nothing I have ever played before. The low mids (where the horn acts) are powerfull yet sweet sounding, and the lows are smooth, without peaks. That´s all I need to have a defined sound (If I want it defined...because the opossite is easier of course).
I felt that the low/mid gain is very usefull at high SPL ´s.
At lower volumes, I was equalizing the cab just a bit, to get more lows. This situation, made me think about the "loudness eq" in Hi-Fi amps (....fletcher-mundson). A bit like the "contour" or "deep" switch in bass amps, but with automatic operation depending on overall volume.
The grill cloth and the piping was quite tricky to install, because of the frame exact size and angles. If anyone wants to know how I managed to do it, please let me know. I can prepare a text and some drawings with measures when I go back to Argentina where the Jacks are.
Cheers
Miguel

Lovely, all retro. That jazz bass is wonderful too. I take it it's a keeper.

thanks spongebob
I m flying to Argentina this coming tuesday... big move... hope to meet you some day.
The cloth is a fender silver face cloth. I bought it in UK, online at Allparts UK. I m not sure if you can buy something similar in Argentina. But a cloth is maybe something you can buy from USA and you don t have big trouble at customs.

I am getting speaker cloth orderred today and need some info on how you installed the cloth. It seems simple, but I always mess up simple.
Good dealings with Greg Plouvier

Yeah, it would be great if you could share the cloth grill "How To". Was thinking of a cloth grill and piping for a couple of Jack 112's I'm building now. What you did looks totally pro!
Built:
2-Otop 12 W/3012HO and 12 tweet Melded Arrays
2-20" Titan 39 W/3012LF
2-Jack 1x12 W/3012 HO

+100 on the grille cloth tutorial.
Happy to see there are others out there that mess up simple also.
I might have missed it but what are you using for your preamp?

Beautiful work. Go home and make them sing and dance already! Speaker cloth is outstanding!
