New horn design needed

#1 Post by Greenman »

Depending on where I am, some times at lunch I play songs/video on my phone. I have a square pail in my service van that I lay my phone on ad it doubles the output. I think Bill should design a horn/Docking station for my new Ipad on the way.

Put a battery powered T-Amp inside a J10 and then plug the iPad/iPhone/iPoop into it.

Looks like a typical W horn. Someone with an iPhone should grab one of these and see how they do. Obviously the high's are going to roll off pretty hard because of the bends, and the lows aren't going to be that great because of the phone's driver, and the horn is way to short to be useful in LF. Still, the mids could be strong enough to make it worthwhile. I think I may build myself a "Jackbox" though, I kind of like the idea, even though I originally posted it half jokingly.

Did you get that idea from the "Podzuma" project on the parts expess site? I was thinking of doing the same!

no?

If you need it even smaller just cut it into half. Or if you want to go smaller, a full range driver and stick it in a box ;)

Nah, I've seen that before but my idea was generated by the "need for a new horn design".

The video claims it "boosts the base a full octave."

The misspelling of bass leads me to think this is a non-sense phrase by a marketer, but I wonder if the inventor meant to communicate that it amplifies a single octave in the bass range.

Not at all. But if that octave is from 400Hz to 200Hz it ain't no deal.
