Calibrated Behringer ECM8000

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

Calibrated Behringer ECM8000

Is anyone buying their ECM8000s' from Cross Spectrum Labs with a custom calibration file? Or do i just buy one for 45 bucks from a regular on-line reseller and let 'er rip?

How precise a measurement do you need? For practical applications absolute precision is not required.

PartsExpress is selling (what looks like) a rebadged ECM8000 complete with custom calibration file from 20-20. For $40...

They all use the same Panasonic capsule, so buy the one that gives you the most for your money.
Mine is the Superlux brand, same as the ECM8000.

I just got one of the Dayton ones in, the calibration file loads right up in REQWiz, but it's pretty decent all the way across the board, and really doesn't get too badly off until below 35hz and above 15k (both of which are nearly inaudible, unless you count feedback :) )

I just got the Dayton in myself. My .txt file is a bit different. They must do a batch cal based on manufacturing batches or something. I can't believe they'd do each one. Loaded into REW just fine. I was thrown for a loop because when I browsed for the .txt file in the mic cal window, my OSX browse box was looking for just .cal files (left over from my sound card calibration), and it took me a minute to realize i could toggle that to search for all files, not just .cal files.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions everybody.

What's the SN on your mic? I find it difficult to believe that they're doing individual calibration too, but since the serial number is on a sticky label, it kind of leans that direction. Mine was 589, are we close?

Hmm. Well... the thing seems accurate enough. Also makes for a darn good room and piano mic, I found out.

The mics mentioned are for calibration. Isn't the Galaxy an SPL meter?

They have an REW forum (in case you didn't know). Folks there are as helpful as they are around here. I learned pretty much how to set up for a sound card cal, etc, all on their forums.
