8x T39's

Finally about 9 month late i can start looking forward to building my T39's

They are going to be loaded with the Ciare 12SW which is up on order now (4 of them anyway). Hopefully they should arrive in a few weeks and with exams over I'll be ready start again, will definitly be needing a reread of the plans and my progress. I always think this place is a bit short on pictures so here are some from a few months back when i got the 10 sheets of ply. Im making them 21 inch wide (or close) and the same depth so to accommodate a grille over the mouth and foam cover all over the front, should hopefully look like a nice bunch of double 15 or 18's.

First stage was cutting all those 4x8s down to constant widths:


And finished all within a quick weekend at home (surprisingly small i reckon):

I will definately follow this thread! Your choise of cabs and drivers has by far the highest ratio of performance to versatility on this forum for quite some time. The full front grills is something that I've thought about doing too! Are you doing the fronts flat or slightly arched?

Well I have been considering all the options for quite a while and really do hope I'll be impressed with the design/config choice. Size wise the T39 is spot on at very least, and hopefully it should look smart too.

The front will be flat, as the metal grille is rather expensive if i wanted it curved Id really have to get the grille over the full front of the cab. Plan at the moment for the fixing is the front two braces being modified (extended to the mouth) and including a cross brace (or two) to help support the grille, with probably some supports on bottom and sides too.

You'd spot a GSX1400 and SV650SF, neither mine unfortunately. Tho I can take em out for a bit of a blast now and again.

As for the saw I love it, smooth, quiet, accurate, clean, handles 4x8 sheets fairly easily, and it stops in a second or two. Really though unless building say more than 2 cabs a time (or your building all the time) the advantages it offers over a good circular saw system could be debatable. Also since it takes up so much floor space and its my dads garage I've had plenty practice setting it up and putting it away. No more pics of it on me atm.

i'd love to hear some T39's with the ciare woofers in. ive been looking for an alternative to the eminence drivers as there so bloody expensive in the uk.
why did you go for those instead of the Precision Devices 12SB30?

I really do hope so, im at Durham but im in Nottingham at uni for a few more weeks then done forever ..... well maby. Welcome anytime to come round for a listen if you fancy, or some time when they take a trip out.
I chose the ciare as it avaible at PAP for under 100 (pretty good value i think and only a bit more than the SB30) and from the simulations I did preforms really well in a t39 like cab. Only downside is the weight.

All out of saw porn unfortunately, didn't envisage the demand for it.

Why im building them i cant really answer, i do small hire outs to houses and pubs in nottingham, but nothing like would warrant or even have space for 8 such subs, and as i mentioned moving back home soon anyway. Depends on how proactive i am with them at home, I might try some promotion in Durham since it does seem crying out for some proper bass heavy nights, and i'd guess the 8 subs would smoke most in house systems in durham.
