Crown XTI 1000 Help

I recently purchased a used XTI 1000. The amp works fine except when trying to connect it to a computer to use the system architect. After doing some research, I found out that the firmware of this amp needs to be upgraded to use system architect.
I went to the Harman website and downloaded the upgrade. I was trying to install the upgrade but was halted in my tracks by an error message that said "Firmware does not support s-record format, use Intel Hex file".

I had to do some more research to find out what was up with this. I stumbled upon the Crown Forum and found a couple of threads where people had the same issue. It turns out that the files on the Harman site are the wrong files to upgrade the firmware. These threads are pretty old and I'm surprised that the website hasn't been updated with the correct files.

The Crown forum doesn't have them posted anywhere.

Just like others had to do on the Crown Forum, I PMed a guy on the Crown Staff to email me the correct files. It's been a few days.
I know this is a long shot. I was wondering if anyone here had the same issue in the past and maybe, just maybe, you still have those Hex files sitting somewhere on your computer?

Thanks in advance.

I received the needed files to upgrade my amp by a member of the Crown Staff. I doubt if anyone else will end up with the same problem, but I will keep the files on my computer just in case someone does.

Install harmon band manager and connect the amp. When it connects it will perform the firmware upgrade if necessary.

What's the correct cable to connect a PC please? I have one with the right plug, it's a cat5E, was supposed to link two laptops together but it never worked. Gear arrives next week, I want to hit the ground running!

Standard USB cable. Like the one connected to a printer.

Thanks, you're talking to a guy that doesn't own a printer, the last one I owned was pre USB, generally I don't "do" computers. It seems I need a cable with a type B plug on one end and type A on the other. Every day is a school day.

Flat rectangle on one end, square with the cut corners on the other. That's how I have to explain it to my mother
To throw you for a real loop, printers are probably going mostly wireless

Heh... we're a bit away from that... wireless ADAT isn't here yet. There are products on the market now that send 24-32 channels of ADAT over Cat5, but it's not IP based. There are some products on the horizon that purport to do it through IP, so in theory could work wirelessly.... but I don't think I could trust them with WiFi.
That said... mix rack on stage and WiFi to FOH has worked great for me except in one situation where the area was saturated with high power WiFi, so I ran an Ethernet cable to FOH. Beats the snot out of a big thick multipair any day of the week.

The issue with wireless is that it's not "deterministic", which is to say you are not guaranteed that the packets will arrive in a set time.
Even the original, non-switched version of Ethernet isn't deterministic. Only switched Ethernet can guarantee that packets arrive in a given time. Switched Ethernet also has the advantage that it's bidirectional.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that all the parts are commodity items, Audio over Ethernet is still ridiculously expensive, 10 times as costly as anything else.
