Crossover
Re: Crossover
While it does have 24db slope and a set 40hz low pass, it will do but I would not recommend it at all. Looking at the prices, for another $100 you could get the dbx drpa on sale. Heck, i've seen the behringer dsp for a low as $225 some months ago. Being able to high pass, xover, and limit properly will be worth that extra money. But then again, I know the prices in Mexico for electronics(or just about anything) are outrageous, and difference might not be worth it to you.djwoo wrote:Based on my gear: 2 T39 and OT12, Two amps, 1Eq. 24 band, this crossover:

The thing that makes no sense is why are horns not the norm in mexico since plywood is lot cheaper than buying big amps and expensive drivers??? BTW, I have a brother and an uncle that had music groups over there for quite a while. Now my uncle is here and invested heavily on the thing he could only dream about in mexico: 6 CV "horn" subs, and 6 215 JBL cabs......
Yeah, i know......

Oh yeah, not to mention the amps he has to use for all of them.
But the good thing is that thye didn't have to waste money on speaker stands since those CV subs make some hell of speaker stands.....

Built:6 t39, t18, 4 Jack10, 2 autotuba, 2 SLA,2 wedge, 2 TT, 2 Tritrix, curved sla, 2 otop212, 2 SLA pros, Ported 8" sub, 2 ported 210, dual ported 8" sub

Re: Crossover
If you're HP T39 at 45 Hz then the 40z low cut is not very useful. You'd have to daisy chain the channels to use 1st as your HP and then 2nd channel doing a mono Xover.
Your Eq may have a adjustable high pass filter on it perhaps. Only one EQ so you're running mono anyway?
You're also missing a limiter?
When you add it up the digital processors get to be an attractive deal if they're available to you at US prices. Try 700US smackers for a drpa here in NZ.

Re: Crossover
I just buy another PA amp. this is to replace the one that I use in the T39 (for auto sound use) this auto sound have the hpf and crossover integrated, and with the new one I have to return to the passive ones, who I desoldering four days ago..........
Good electronics here are very expensive, I found the dbx for about $ 120 and one no brand new cost the same so I prefeer the dbx even it's used.

Re: Crossover
How!!! only in Mexico????? horns are not the norm everywhere, and the plywood is cheaper than big amps, even if you made your cabs from ebony or rosewood, when the big company's solve the problem with the cost involved on make horns then they will be the norm, but here there is a 60/30/10% rule: 60% is the guys with boxes made from mdf or particleboard, with two 15" and two piezos and the omnipresent 18" sub, and that equipment souns terrible, but with big amps. everything sound worst but louder............ then the 30% with JBL eon series with the same 18" direct radiating sub, BUT with the JBL logo and of course this doesn't sound better than the first one..... and the final 10% with the "fabulous" plastic Mackie's they are at the top in the food chain only because his boxes have the blue logo from Mackie............SeisTres wrote:The thing that makes no sense is why are horns not the norm in mexico since plywood is lot cheaper than buying big amps and expensive drivers???
