Crown XTi 2000 Vs XTi 4000 for Omni 15's
Crown XTi 2000 Vs XTi 4000 for Omni 15's
Hey there all! I'm currently runnning a Mackie M1400 biamped for my omni 15 setup (usually just one) and would like to move up to a lighter poweramp. What would be the recommendation between the two XTi's? The 4000's seem to be harder to find on the used market, and I question if there'd be any audible difference between the two at this level (or is it just all overkill). Thanks!

What drivers are in your Omni 15's?
There is no point in exceeding the speaker wattage rating of the woofer drivers in your Omni 15, so depending on what you've loaded it with, an XTI2000 may be all you need.

Evidently my head & hands weren’t communicating because I distinctly remember thinking that I put 3015LF down….
Its interesting how the efficiency of the midrange makes even the LF seem bass shy in this cabinet.
Thanks again!

XTi1000 is probably more than enough.

^ seriously. If the Omnis are anything like the OmniTops, they're insanely loud with just a little power.

A good thing about switching to an Xti in your situation is that you'll then be able to biamp one or both O15s, splitting the bass/mid @ 500hz, 4th order (install wiring and switches to bypass the passive components). The Xti 2000 will be a damn-near perfect match for your rig.
