Mac OSX and frequency analyzing

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

Mac OSX and frequency analyzing

#1 Post by coolhandjjl »

I'm on Mac OSX. Anyone use Mac compatible software to analyze their speakers? What about a mic? Is that some sort of electret condenser mic that has an 1/8" mini phone jack to plug into my computer? I'm already looking at some equalizers.

You didn't specify a price. REW Room EQ wizzard from Home Theater Shack is pretty decent and you can afford it! LOL.

What about a mic?

Sorry for being so clueless here. I recall seeing some sort of you tube or demo from here that showed a PC laptop with a large bar graph, perhaps a frequency sweep, showing frequency spikes, giving the guy information as to what frequencies on his EQ to dial up or down.

Trying to get something set up for a home stereo, old school. No Audyessy here.

Read this article: http://www.realtraps.com/art_microphones.htm

Then make your decision on which microphone to buy. You'll probably save a lot of money.

So a Nady or Behringer mic, Room EQ Wizard software, and my computer are all I need to read my speakers and create sort of a profile so I know how to set my EQ?
