Seth, you are absolutely correct about the fundamental. However, the "character" of the bass starts an octave above that. That, and, most of what we hear from a bass amp often never gives a full presentation of the fundamental anyway. Bryan will be safe. SQ-wise, at an HP of 50hz.
+1 with what Tom is saying. I've highpassed bass guitar channels up to 60-70Hz if they are walking over the kick too much.

I've seen the electric bass channel high passed at even 80Hz when the FOH engineer wants to have the same tone in the PA as is coming out of the backline. Since most channel strip high pass filters are 12dB/octave that doesn't make it too thin in the first octave.

Yep, the end result is what matters at the end of the day.

In the end, I just want good clarity and a tight sound. I like the kick to round out the bottom end: not saying there aren't a million ways to skin a cat. Just my style, I guess.

That's absolutely true. A couple of years ago the band I work with was opening a show for Exile. I was mixing on the provided X32 and Exile had their own mixer...high-end ...might have been a Digico..don't remember.
Anyway, my band sounded really good. I was pleased with the mix and everything went well. Exile came on their mix was wonderful - although totally different than mine. Two shows mixed very differently, but both very good. Everything doesn't have to sound the same - but it does have to sound good!

Thats the whole thing right there. I'll take sound quality over gut wrenching lows all day long. I mean, if I can figure out how to incorporate freqs below 50 Hz in a tasteful way I will. But I've never really missed them.

Alright, fellas. Got my driver's in a day early and broke them in overnight. Loaded them in the cabs and buttoned them up.
I got a cheap SPL meter and I'll make some noise on Saturday. I look forward to taking lots of notes and sharing my thoughts.
BTW, on the first cab the grill and driver cover mounting scheme and the mouth braces are a bit different. Didn't quite know how I wanted to do things when I started.

Thanks, Seth. I'm fairly anxious as well. I started this endeavor in 2015-2016 I think and I'm finally finished with my first goal. I definitely look forward to testing the tops and subs together. I'll be like a kid in a candy store for 12 hours or more.

Any idea what they weigh?

I haven't weighed them yet. I don't think they weigh more than 70 lbs, though. They're surprisingly light. But that's one data point I plan to get this weekend.
