I've done it this way on every build I've done.
Bruce, that's how I did my T24s as well. Cheap flat latex black paint. Works great and looks great. I might not have enough Duratex though. I might be making an order here soon. I still have to do the access panel hole for the binding posts too. I'm going to counter sink it in a bit, so it's flush.

If you are short of Duratex, put on an extra coat or two of flat black, then go sparingly with the duratex - you might be surprised how good it will look....and it aint' gonna' be getting moved around a lot, right?

I was going to do one coat of duratex anyway. That's all I did on the T24s and they look great.

Got the access panel done today. Recessed the terminal cup so it's flush. Looks good...
And with the cup in...

OK, another shot with the access panel fitted:
Everything was ready, so I started applying the paint. Looking good. First a light coat. Second coat should do nicely, then a single coat of duratex. Looking pretty good.
Flat Black Latex:

After being busy all weekend, I got some time tonight to do some more flat black painting. All sides have 2 coats except one. The mouth is 1/2 done. My plan is to finish the black latex in the garage, then move it to the basement for the duracoat. I know it's obsessive, painting the inside of the access panel flanges, but I like how it looks. Here is what it looks like now...
Painted up nice...
Cover is ready for duratex.

It won't take a lot of duratex to finish that off. A really good primer base like that makes it so much easier to cover and uses a whole lot less of the expensive stuff.
I cringe every time someone says they are putting duratex directly on the wood....that stuff is way too expensive to have it soaking into the wood.
Good looking primer coat!

Since it's for inside I'd be leaning toward some regular black satin or semi-gloss paint.

I'm going to do a light coat of duratex. It will be in the back corner and will be used as a jungle gym for my son, I think. So the duratex will work nicely.

Great job, btw. I'm might be building one this winter or T45. Can't decide.
