If that's plexiglas you are using, it may not be too thin to compress the sealing strip evenly between the screws.Atilsley wrote:Noted, thanks. Not plexiglass, but 18mm ply. The air leek is negligible now with all screws in, but I will still caulk it.koturban wrote:If that's plexiglas you are using, it may not be too thin to compress the sealing strip evenly between the screws.Atilsley wrote:Noted, thanks. OK, chamber now caulked...plus a small bead of silicone around edge. Also, increased courseness and size of screws.
Sub now placed in corner firing up. My ceilings are tall, so I'll increase the hieight of sub, and/or turn it around firing down.

Will you paint it now it's not going with the hifi? Could be interesting painting the coating.

Two options.Gregory East wrote:Will you paint it now it's not going with the hifi? Could be interesting painting the coating.
1. I will adhere the cabinet with 4mm MDF, in order to have it painted....in matching darker green as per wall colour.
2. build a frame around the sub and gyprock it in, then paint new gyprock wall and fit new skirting/cornice.
Greg, what's been your best understanding of placement of sub...eg firing up or down...also distance to floor/ceiling. At the moment, the distance from outh to ceiling is too high, eg 4 foot...although the sub really rocks.

It will be in the plans. If it doesn't sound any different layed down aimed at corner you could leave it. 4ft shoul be a big cancellation somewhere in the upper range.

Getting low level voice audio through the sub.
Is this because the x-over in the O-Audio BASH amp is not operating effectively...?
Could I run an extra passive coil in the line to try and squeeze out any higher frequencies...?

Strange q....but is the 'quality' of the bass better when low in the room (eg from floor level to the seating position), or from the roof/corner down...?

Must be. No idea about fixing it. You sure it's not just low end of voices, non directional?Atilsley wrote:Getting low level voice audio through the sub.

Not sure. Of course, it makes no difference when low notes are being played...but when it's quiet...it's a bit annoying hearing people speak from the sub...!Gregory East wrote:Must be. download Room EQ Wizard and just run a sweep to see if you have overlapping issues. No need for a mic unless you want to calibrate, which is 3rd in line of importance IMO. Speaker and placement being 1 and 2.Atilsley wrote:Not sure. I found 18" as mentioned in the plans works about right almost everytime. At least in my room.

Re: THT LP Build for 2 channel horns - high wall mounted
You mentioned in an earlier post that your only audio is the TV. Are you using the audio outputs from the TV to feed the sub?
I can see two potential issues:
1. Small TV speakers competing with huge, sensitive sub.
2. No LFE, so all audio being fed to sub. (I could be wrong here, but I don't think most TV's have this kind of feature)

No. Audio signal is direct from DVD via piggy back rca's....so I guess I'm still getting full frequencies into sub.
This wll change though when I get a ht amp.
