I will look in to Rockard when the time comes, though the suggestion of paving paint is more budget friendly...

Don't worry because Rockard is seriously nothing to get excited about, doesn't live up to it's name at all.

Here's my AutoTuba in paving paint. It does not give as much texture as Duratex and I think it wears off quicker too. It's good enough for the trunk though :)

lalexb wrote:So here it is, I've finally done my refinishing on the T39 using the Easytread from Phoenix paint, available from kemtek in NZ.

I paid NZ$100 for 4L delivered to my doorstep.
The finish is pretty good, at times I struggled a bit to obtain an even texture, but I'd put that on the technique used. ...
I just thought to mention, I've also found it difficult to get even texture/coverage with easytread, interested to hear if anyone finds a good technique for applying it ? I like it because it gives a good thick rubbery protective coating but yes, I agree, hard to get it looking really sharp as it can get a bit coagulated. Still is a good protective coating I think.

Time for an update on this one....... I'm searching for something to finish my jacks in, and was going to use Easytread. Emailed the nz supplier, and he said there is now a distributor in Akl - the bolt shop in glenfield. So he wasn't going to send me any, go there instead. Rang them, and $153+gst. Jeepers! Any updates from the Kiwis here as to what is being used and where to get it? Anyone had good results from the hippo liner from supercheap autos to warrant that instead? $126 for the two 850ml tins. A and b I'm guessing.
Anyway, any suggestions welcome!
Cheers, Tim.

Just so you know,
Cannonsound in Sydney are now Duratex stockists. And they don't do Rockard any more I believe.
Don't know what it would cost to ship though.

Rockard is still available, and I would buy another 15 litres any day.

Really, all you want is ultra black, thick, water based paint. Use that with a "fine" grade texture roller and you'll get what you're looking for...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

My friend contacted Rockard and the answer he had was essentially, they don't bother with small quantity orders and buying a Duratex sample pack should be ample.
This was for a single 12" guitar cab...

G'day Guys,

Ordered 4L of Rockard black textured paint from Smithy's PA shop in NSW. Two weeks later when nothing arived in sunny Qld I chased up the order to find Neil (Smith) has passed away.

Tanya chased up the order and a shipping note from the delivery mob appeared within a few hours. I'm glad I was polite when I enquired about the delayed order!

I'm not sure what impact this will have on Rockard supply on the east coast. (The website still lists Neil's number and email address.)

No more, from what I've been told... a different friend wanted to get Rockard in Turbo Blue, and heard the same news.
I guess that explains why my first friend was turned away, apprently Neil was in poor health the past 6 months :(

Paint arrived today (Wednesday). I emailed Tanya on Monday. Essentially 2 days delivery from Sydney to Toowoomba, which is pretty good.

Looks like they are still in business at the moment. I'll post Tanya's email address .........
