Second side glued on! Cab rough-sanded and rounded over! Driver installed and cab leak-tested!

I used a long caul to clamp down the access cover for the leak test. Then I put some Daft Punk through it for grins! Big grins! :hyper:

Caster slots done and Duratex started!

Also converting an old, ill-conceived TQWT into an amp rack (it just happened to be exactly 19" wide internally!):

(For those wondering, that's a spare MGB windscreen and an old sink in the background - yes, I'm a bit of a pack rat... :fruit: )

Based on advice in this thread I drilled out my access panel braces.

I also finished wiring the second cab, and buttoned it up. So this pair of T39s is basically finished! No photo, 'cause I'm tired, but I'll report back after their initial audition once the OTs are done!

I bagged off the day job early today (TGIF) and dragged the Titans to the backyard. I plopped my W8s on top, cabled everything up, and had a go at it.

No EQ, just wanted to get a sense of what kind of thump we're in for. I played a few 80s favorites from my iPhone, and was actually afraid to crank it up any more than I did.

This is gonna be fun.

Thanks commander! I'm actually pretty pleased at how square they came out, and that Duratex is just amazing stuff. Very lightweight too, and the recessed casters are the bee's knees.

Once the OTs are done (at least two of them) I can set the whole rig up, EQ, crossover, limiter, and everything, and take some voltage readings. My guitarist has a place out in the country; I think I'll drag it all out there for the real test run. :hyper:

Finally got my grills done.

I bought some bulk grill material from DJPhatman a while back. Since then I've been devising the best method for constructing and attaching the grills. Here's what I came up with:

First I cut the material down to size, using an abrasive blade in my hand-held circular saw, one inch oversize in each direction. Then I cut one inch squares from each corner using tin snips.

Image

Then I used my WorkMate and some scrap boards clamped to the metal to bend 90 degrees along each edge, one inch in width.

Image

Image

I placed felt buttons at the ends of each brace, and cut one inch (well, slightly longer, so they could compress a bit) sections of automotive fuel hose to use as standoffs for the two screws I put where the braces cross.

Voila!

Not tested yet. If they rattle I'll just have to add more screws and/or felt.

I'll go out on a limb here.....they will definitely rattle without a whole lot more screws in 'em.

Agreed; I imagine there's a good chance you're right. I'm prepared to add more screws!
