You could use your black Duratex on the cab, but have the piezos and woofer grills white. It would give you that tuxedo look without having the maintenance hassle of white cabs.

The 3/16" on their web site was 60%+, IIRC. Are there any high-frequence diffraction issues with holes that size? I remember a comment about that a while back, but don't remember the details.

The size of the holes doesn't matter as much as the size of the solid areas between them. If that's 1/4" across there will be issues only above 54kHz, so I wouldn't be concerned.

Maybe even do away with the metal grill all together and go with a framed white fabric cover over the woofers with a tiny BFM logo at the center bottom.

I like the round metal grills that cover the individual drivers, personally (that's what I meant by "woofer grills" in my previous post). If you get a dent, you only have to replace the one grill instead of an entire large grill. I'm not a fan of grill cloth or fabrics, for the many obvious reasons.

Same. I don't like the idea of the piezos exposed. I'm still looking around to find a white powder-coated version that's suitable and reasonable.

I am indeed going with white. I e-mailed a few of the planners I work with frequently, and they all said they would love white cabs as an option and would want them in most of the parties (not only weddings).

Unfortunately that means I am again... sitting, waiting And it's awesome outside - perfect weather to paint and let em bake in the sun.


I guess I could finish them out and test them? Duratex doesn't need to go behind the grill, and I'm using roller grade...

yeah, the individual grills looks kinda cheap. My favorite look is actually like the k12 or the srx series where everything looks very neat and simple. Any extra plastic, shiny stuff, horns or designs are really overdoing it, IMO.

And if you indeed are going to go white, doing covers for the cabs will be perfect. As small as they are, the covers are going to be no problem. what I will never get is why people use covers on pro touring cabs that are 20 cubit feet

Just for clarification,

What I was refering to was a single cover that would span the woofers top to bottom and then up to the edge between the woofers and piezos . I agree, individual covers are not the move!

Another idea would be to go ahead and get black metal grills and cover them with white sheer sleeve. This way you dont have to worry about painting the grills and you can switch up between black grill and white covers....

Still on the prowl for white grills, but the white Duratex tub has been ordered. Weather forecast looks terrible, though.

I have a small space heater... dumb idea? Probably won't get up to the 100+ that I need to cure the Duratex, though.
