@AntonZ:
4" for 4 euro? hmmmm...sounds like a nice project at home...If you like, i can experiment with them. My projects are almost done for clients, and i am always looking for some new projects. PM me please, maybe we can work something out. And if i remember correctly, you've got my email.
the fane looks like a match.
@Bas:
Would be killer to put our t39 together at a meeting. I once did that in a high school gym.

We started out with a heartbeat pounding, something like on the album "the dark side on the moon" (great album by the way)...That was some nice clean bass...the final 4 heartbeats at full tilt give the kids a heart attack, the pregnant girlfriend of my friend who were along for the ride almost gave birth on the spot.
Any pictures yet?

4 Euro 4ohm drivers sounds like a good deal. Not to many close out prices over here like you get with PE or Madisound.
No pictures as of yet. My few days off are all in the past now, its all work and no play for the next few days including the weekend. They do have the first coat of Warnex on em, and i have to say that stuff is the king of all paints. It made a night and day difference in the look of the cab compared to the satin black primer it had before. Nearly all the little imperfections became invisible and i love the texture it got from my structure foam roller. The dried texture somewhat resembles the Turbosounds, gritty sandpapery rough feel.

You made a conscious decision to DIY lol.
I'm a bit wary of mistakes lately... some of them is from not understanding the plans, some plain ignorance, you get the drift.
That panel cops a pounding. And I admit my access panel is larger than it should be
Damn, the more i think of it the more i start doubting my decission.

Well, i have a few nights more to sleep over it.

I don't have the T39 plans yet, but it will almost certainly be my next build. I agree the larger access panel looks nicer ... could it be made from 19mm ply?

A 19mm access panel would be 7mm proud of the rest of the cab. I reckon that would look odd. Of course you'd only see that up close.
Along the same lines;
I guess the looks nicer thing is a bit relative as well. If you paint your cab black, and stand back 10 yards/metres, with it in place in a dark nightclub, are you going to be able to see the access panel distinctly? Probably not. So, to me, that would suggest that function becomes the more imperitive consideration. A smaller panel is easier to brace and get leak free...

I was thinking to do the whole panel in 19mm on softwood battens top, bottom and sides with rubber seals - probably increase the front to back measurement overall by 7mm or set the panel 7mm closer to the baffle. No bracing.
Just a thought!

Bad idea. When you are about to actually begin building, send an update request in per
http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewt ... =10&t=3432 . Follow the directions regarding all braces, to the T. Bill includes these braces as part-and-parcel of the design of the cabinets, as they provide the sturdiness that other cab manufacturers try to solve with thicker building materials. You do know you can use 1/4" (6mm) ply for the braces, right?

By "no bracing" I just mean not bracing the access panel as this would be 19mm ply. Clearly the 12mm panels would be braced as per plans

A braced 12mm access panel would be much better than a 19mm panel with no bracing. I wouldn't skimp on bracing.

The paint is finished on 1. I must say im quite happy with the sound of this one so far, but not blown away yet. Yes, it does rattle the house at ful tilt but something is missing... I guess things will change once the second one is finished so they will be a better match for my tops.
I have to get a rta someday and meassure, but first finish the second one.
