Wow, the round over corners really dress up the boxes. I may just have to follow suit. I like the looks. RU getting anxious to hear them?
Also, what's your intentions for them? Live sound, home audio, crossover, or what?

Well I got the boxes painted up and the second piezo array melded, tomorrow Im gonna mount the speakers. Sorry, no pics with the new paint. I took them with my camera phone but it didnt save them

Ill have lots tomorrow with speakers mount, hopefully!

It seems like the final touches take the longest to complete. I started check fitting my drivers into the boxes last night. Man, that' a lot of screws. So progress seems to slow down. But it's just an optical illusion because the woodwork shows the progress in big changes.

What did you use for gasket material? I've got to figure that out very soon. Also, I've got some soldering to do too.

I can't wait to see your update photos today.

Ok, didnt get anything done today but picture taking. Its been raining here in Iowa for the last two days so the humidity is ridiculous right now and since these are drying in my basement I had to open windows to let the fumes out. Therefore the dehumidifier aint doing much good! Anyway, the bed-liner is curing...slowly. I probably could have worked with it today but I figured I would just wait. Couple questions though:
1. Im gonna front mount these speakers, is it sufficient to simply screw the speakers into the baffle or do I need to do something a little more fancy (hurricane nuts/bolts ect.). I know that remounted speakers is a consideration but Im not too concerned about having to mount and remount speakers.

2. Mounting the melded piezo: Im thinking that the 4 holes (2 on each end) wont suffice, should i run a bead of PL for support in the middle, maybe drill some holes along the sides and hit it with a few screw...any suggestions.

For gasket material I bought the smallest, thinnest stuff from Menards I could find for windows I believe. You know sticky on one side and foamy on the other (foam gasket tape). So Im gonna run that up and down the box, but I dont need it for speaker mounting do I? My plan was to just mount them puppies right to the front of that baffle!

Only you can determine if the speaker frame has 100% contact with the baffle. If there's no gasket on the frame at the contact point it's likely you'll need some form of sealer.

PL is the wrong material for bonding and sealing the piezos. If you need more seal/strength where they meet, use more rubber cement/epoxy.

one trick I did with my piezo's (omnitop) was to add a few drops of black paint into the glue and mix it up before applying it... that way you can cut/sand any excess glue and it doesnt show up all white/yellow like normal epoxy does. I also mixed some paint into some PL and spread that on the back after the epoxy had dried, it frothed up and filled out some of the cavities from my dodgy cutting job perfectly!

I'm not too concerned about how the melded piezo itsself will hold together, I'm more concerned about the piezo array vibrating against the box toward the center were there is less support against the box. I don't want the piezo array vibrating against the box when the eights get to pounding

Hey chenry, you could drill a couple of small holes along the length, say at 1/3 and 2/3 the way for additional screws. If you're careful where you spot them, they won't interfere with your melded splice joints. That would give you 8 screws for each array.

Your TLAHs are looking sweet. Wait till you start to screw in your drivers, as that's a lot of wrist twisting. If you do use a power drill to drive the screws, just be careful so you don't slip off of the screw. That'd give you an 'awe shucks'.

I'm anxious to hear what you think about the sound.

Yeah i just ran a screw through each melded segment on both sides, looks good, consistent and holds the array well.

wrist? wrist my butt! Ill be using the trusty ol'screw gun with the clutch set; way to lazy for all that manual stuff! lol

I need to get on it, Im working too much and having to service too many of my toys (lawn tractors and trucks), I cant get any darn building done

Good lord willing and the creek dont rise, these puppies will be wired and tested by the end of this week. I will be posting a video of what they sound like with good quality audio and an spl meter. Id like to give you guys an accurate sample if I can. Ill be recording the volume with a zoom 2. the only spectrum analyzer u have is on my droid, so that might be a little sketchy

Like I said, the last few details seem to take forever. Especially if you're a perfectionist like me. Wiring (soliering) will take a while too. But take your time. It'll save time troubleshooting. I have to look forward to that this afternoon too. 9 drivers and a dozen tweets in each box.
