I just mis cut my access panel. Maybe this is a sign I should do one at t ime instead of two...

One looks fine, the other has just one bad cut, but I don't see how I could work around this. Starting over on this one.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! I started with a fresh panel, drew everything out again, drilled everything again, and mis-cut the access panel.....AGAIN!!! This time on a different line

I'm not defeated though. I think next time I'm going to tape off the right line or something so I won't cut along the wrong one. One of the first pair was fine and one of the second pair is fine, so I've got two. Otherwise going well. Sides are nice and square, access panels that I have are good, all the lines look good and pre-drilling went well. About four pairs of panels are rough cut, so hopefully tomorrow I'll get at least two on and the baffles prepared and maybe attached. If I reached that mark I'd be doing well.
I did decide to go with 26" on these. Originally I was going to go smaller, but I figure these will always be moved with a hand truck, so weight should not be a bid deal...I guess we'll see. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post soon.
Thanks!
Donny

Donny, You poor bugger! Hope you get that access panel sorted out soon. Sounds like you've been progressing well otherwise. I'm glad my cabs didn't have such crucial access panels.
On a more personal note: Did you go nuts throwing stuff around, kicking your dog and screaming at your saw or take on a more sombre defeated outlook on the mistake?
It sounds like you did neither and handled it really well, big props to you for harnessing the beast known as self control.
Best of luck on the rest of your build, I'm well interested in your opinion of sound from the wider cabs opposed to your 18's

Hey man! Yes, they're sorted out and I have two ready to build with nicely cut access panels, plus four pairs of rough cut panels. I didn't go nuts at all and I was pretty calm. On the first one I just put everything down and went over to my mom's to help her with some flooring. I came back after a couple hours and started again. The second one was more frustrating, but I was still pretty chill. I hope to make some good progress today.

Donny, You are not the only one man! On my 4th t30 some how I cut the access panel too small. I think I cut on the inner line all the way around so I have one cab that the cover is smaller. Luckily the driver still fit thru the hole. I was soooooo pissssed at myself. I did the same thing, put everything down and walked away for a while.
Definitely dont want to use power tools when your upset......good call and good luck.

Small progress today. Almost all the panels are rough cut, just five more left. So if nothing else gets cut bad, I should have enough BB to finish. Tomorrow after work will be to counter sink all the holes I'll be screwing into, then two panel 1's go up.

I have another question about the Lab12 modification on the T30. For the two parts of the rear chamber that are blocked off with the reducers, could I just cover each those completely with one triangle piece for the access panel to screw into instead of using two piece flanges?
Thanks!
Donny

If that works better for you, why not? It's essentially the same thing.

Thanks man! I believe cutting less will be a good thing. Once panel 4 is in place I'm going to go ahead and do the reducers. I'm going to draw lines for them and countersink some holes to screw those in, same as all the other panels. It will be good to get that critical part of the project done.

Super good build time this evening. Just about one hour. Didn't do anything but get re-organized from last time, then counter sink all my pre-drills, but I sure enjoyed it. While the little ones are going to sleep, I can slip out to the shop. One hour seems to be just about the right time to spend with it. What a great way to relax. Hopefully they'll be ready for the next gig for Valentines. Hopefully panels 1-2 on each box will go up tomorrow.

Geez, you really get a lot of stuff done in an hour compared to me. It takes me a whole hour to cut braces to fit and attach a single panel.

That comes with experience. Once you've built a few the time drops significantly.

Fortunately I'm experiencing that. I'm still being very careful as I go but it feels quicker than my first two T30's. Two panel 2's went up nicely last evening and I worked slowly, still aiming to keep my time to about one hour. That time included carefully chiseling the PL squeeze out from panel two panel 1's, cutting two panel 2's, clamping everything down, drilling pilot holes for the vertical and horizontal joins, then gluing and screwing it all down. Very happy so far. I'm aiming for at least two panel 3's this evening.

Your moving now Donny! Seems to be domestic bliss, wife and kids inside happy, you in the engine room making it happen Tuba 30 wise. I'm well and truly impressed by your discipline of doing around an hour each time. Likely the most productive method any way. Bring on the post valentine day review
