I agree, it's way too cold out there to get anymore work done on it but it I can't wait to put the second coat on it.

It's back together for more permanent testing.
Duratex is awesome, still working out the finer points.

Oh man, Weldon, that looks so darn good. I just noticed how precisely you got the access panel screws spaced and aligned. I really appreciate that level of attention to detail and execution. To my critical eye (and I'm sure yours too) there's a couple places, but overall there's very little room for improvement in the finish. And now, with all the lights and switches, it's really looking like quality product.

There are some spots for sure that I would pay more attention too given a second chance. There is a vertical line at the seam of two panels on the front, not the usual line of gluing up two panels but something like my round over bit bearing burned in a slight depression or something. Any way that just came out of no where, the second coat seemed to hide it enough but I would have loved to have caught that in the filling/sanding stage.
The little eyebrow over the tweeter flare was glaring at me last night when I was on the rowing machine...

I keep rolling the Duratex too long on spots and you end up with the "spiky" sand paper feeling surface treatment, I think I have that figured out and only need to sand that one spot and reapply a thin coat.

One thing I can say is every time I fire this thing up I am impressed by the sound in both level and quality.
I am sure that the class D chip amp is not doing the parts/design justice but for the intended purpose I can't be happier.

I am daydreaming now about a Jack Lite/Tuba combo...
Build both to the plans then have them snap together with flight case toggles, wheels on the tuba for use with the Omni or the Jack as needed.

For the wood logo think I would do that a bit differently. Since it was laser cut the edges are very crisp 90* corners. I think to do it again I would double side tape it to MDF panel and use a flush cut bit to trim the MDF to the same size as the logo. Then I could use a 1/8" round over bit or chamfer bit on the logo to remove that sharp edge.

There isn't really anything wrong with the edge but I imagine it will not handle abuse well over time.

I had planned on using black screws there but after getting it all back together I sort of liked the contrast and industrial feel.

Even black screws need paint, or they'll rust.

Since this thread is really long, you may have posted it and I missed it, but what it the weight of the thing now that it's finished?

Wow that turned out pretty darn good. Only criticism I have is the bracket for the light and switch by the woofer. I know it's the easiest solution and you probably wont see it, but the exposed switch and wires seems.......incomplete. I can't think of an easier way with a small enclosure. Maybe 3d printing a little cover.

The switches by the woofer are more of a need to know type deal so I wanted them hidden, the toggle doesn't matter it's just for mute, but the green switch is for Bluetooth pairing, I wanted that hidden with no obvious controls to mess with. I've learned that unsupervised drunks will turn every dial and push every switch possible... If they manage to reset the Bluetooth pairing I will lose control over the playback all together.

It's not ideal I agree but it's 100% hidden from view when on the ground, you would have to try extremely hard to find it. I plan to put the master volume knob and bass boost knob in the throat as well, likely all the way in the back around the edge, I hope to just barely reach them.

At easy listening on the 5.0AH battery I was getting easily 4 hours, at moderate volume 3 hours is safe.
I just got the 9.0 AH battery fixed so you can just about double those runtimes, more than enough given how easy they are to swap/charge.

Got the finishing touch on it.

I haven't yet finished a cab that I've been 100% satisfied with. I wonder if that'll ever happen. Or, if there will just always be something I see that could be improved.

The spots you mentioned were the ones that caught my eye too. 95% of people looking at it won't see what you and I see. It's like a spot of rust on a chromed and polished blown injected 426 hemi... the awesomeness overwhelms the senses and blinds the eye to minor imperfections. Who would ever notice a nude woman was missing the tip of a finger? (unless she was trying to beckon you with it. LOL)

I noticed very quickly taking the unfinished cabinet to my Dads memorial that the side of the cabinet with the wheels is going to need some protection going up or down any stair. At 65 lbs carrying it is something I would rather avoid.

I had in my mind some sort of screw on UHMW wear strips but could not find any looking all over the web then I remembered the old grip rails from skateboards, I think they will be perfect.

Do you guys know of a commercial/Pro Audio solution?
