Piezo for short wide throw, compression for long narrow throw.

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
Invisioning those two throw pattern types, which might be the most similar to how the woofer pattern waves (seeming to be focused by the cabinet design) emanate? This assuming that it would be good to have bass and treble frequencies reach a listener's ears in equal measure. Or put graphically, can we saturate bass sound at the far end of a room and if we wanted potent treble arriving too, choose the compression driver? Hopefully not annoying questions.
Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
Andrew, may I throw you a curve ball? I would like to suggest making a full melded array. It will still give a wide dispersion, but it will also throw like a CD. But, don't wire it all as one unit. Instead, using a DPDT switch, have one position for all piezos, middle position for all off, and the other position for the top4 or six piezos to be on.

Thanks Tom. That's an interesting approach. Having switchable options adds versatility. Will be interesting to flip that switch and see the tone charachter shift immediately.
A friend was game to run his lathe asap and I skipped a few steps ahead to start the build. A maple phase plug. spoons for scale.

Nice, but I'm sure it weighs at least ten times what a polystyrene ball does.

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
Might try hollowing out backside?
Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
Nope. BUT, you could take a slice off the back, hollow out the rest, and then glue the back on again.

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
For elec bass driver, choose LaVoce WSF 102.5 over Neo WAN 102.5 due to former's larger X Max? The weights dont seem that different?
Thanks, Andrew

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
The WSF 102.50 is a subwoofer. It does not have a rising midrange.

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
if one is building a single driver 1x10 w/o tweets, what would be the most appropriate speaker to choose? For elec bass that is....
Somehow the discussion of the WSF 102.5 in the manual led me to believe this was the best choice? Perhaps it is IF tweets are added to take over the midrange responsibilities?
"The LaVoce WSF102.50 has the highest xmax at 8.2mm, so it’s the
best choice for electric bass and PA when not using subs."

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
Sorry, the Lavoce part numbers are really confusing, what with WSF, WAN, WLN, SSF etc all with 102.50 suffixes.
The WSF 102.50 would be my choice for electric bass, having long xmax and rising midrange response.

The X Max appears to be 4.8 for the WSF 102.5

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
There's this: https://www.loudspeakersplus.com/v/vspf ... upYilcRzca
So I've found data sheets that say 4,8 mm as well. Going to Lavoce.com they show this, which should be the latest revision:
https://lavocespeakers.com/single-product/?id=121
Why the confusion only Lavoce can say, but it was probably a mistake on previous data sheets.

I'll try emailing them to see if they will commit to one or the other value.

Re: Navigator Jack 10L Build
Looking closely I see the older sheet shows xmax and gap height both at 8.2mm, which isn't right. The current data sheet figures look OK. In any event 4.8mm is good. That's the same as the Eminence DeltaLite II 2510. If you can find a driver with more that's OK too, but keep an eye on the SPL chart.
