It doesn't consider that the spacing relative to wavelength will be different at every frequency, or the listener position. Besides that, it's wrong. The representation of the wave phase shows what happens when the acoustic centers of the two drivers are in back of one another relative to the listener, not side by side. Also, axial response of the two drivers when side by side will be mutually coupled up to where they're a full wavelength apart CTC.

I think I'm going to have to add this to my list of principles to test firsthand.
